I love this album...and I will tell you why....
This album has so much going for it. From the many textures and melodies, to the virtusostic and creative use of instruments and sounds, it begs to be listed to multiple times.
The album opens with “She Walks Alone” a haunting little melody remiscent of tubular bells. This blossoms into a wonderful contemporary orchestral sounding piece weaves the listener in and out of wonderful imagery and ends transforming into a dream like state....this seamlessly transforms into “Module 13” which begins as a continuation of the dream with wonderful arpegios and orchestration that builds and grown to a sense of urgency before finally fading out. “Hollow” took me on another journey this one more ‘space-like’ with it’s use of distant sounds, "extra-terrestrial" synth sounds, and bowed strings.
“Dissipate” took me out of my own head and immersed me in someone else's thoughts. I just love how this song develops and builds. “Is it real, or just a feeling?” I just love this song on so many levels….
“Spectral” is a short piece that features a scary music box sound….this evolves into
“Still” which features an old church piano played flawlessly by Zach Heyde. He mic’d this one very closely so you can hear every squeak, creak and nuance from this old piano. This lends an intimacy not typically shared with the home listener.
I am very impressed with ALL of the music on this album and I have listened to it many times already. I am still hearing things I haven’t heard before.
I can easily imagine any of these pieces in a movie soundtrack.
