Album Notes
"The Open Window" is the full length debut LP from Whisperer, a project fronted by songwriter and singer Sam Fuller-Smith. Born out of uncertainty and lonesome contemplation, these songs offer kindred souls a way to sort things out.
The recordings were brought to life by friend and collaborator Rodrigo Avendano (Coupler, Hecta, Lylas) in his Nashville home studio, Sweet Blood Sound. Avendano's subtle layers of texture and mood bring Fuller-Smith's "singer/songwriter" simplicity out of its shell and into the ethereal. The album's lead single "Rose Marie"--self-released as a 7" in Sept. 2016--and the opening track "89" feature the stellar pedal steel work of Luke Schneider (Margo Price, Natural Child, etc.) Title track "The Open Window" and "Silence Prayer" showcase the album's bleak beauty, absorbing the listener in the quiet world the songs are speaking from.
Whisperer will be touring behind "The Open Window" in 2017 and is in the process of recording new material for a follow-up release.

"He plays the reverby, open sound that captures the uncertainty of a night out west, out among the rattlesnakes and stars."
-Indy Week (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill)

"...Beautifully minimalist guitar, sharp phrasing and unassuming poetry...Whisperer sings something like David Crosby once did- makes his points through artful silence and equally artful song structures."
-Edd Hurt of the Nashville Scene
