ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Virgo Degan brings you a pitch-perfect, unforgettable rendition of Minnie Riperton’s torch classic “Lovin’ You”, remixed for modern dance-floors by today’s top producers. Virgo’s new version of “Lovin’ You” is an energizing, contemporary take on Riperton’s soulful anthem. Virgo cites Riperton’s music as his biggest childhood influence as a singer, and his latest single serves as his personal acknowledgment to the artist who has most inspired him. Riperton passed away from breast cancer in 1978 at the young age of 31. Fittingly, Virgo is donating proceeds from sales of this single to the Minnie Riperton Breast Cancer Fund as a tribute to the original artist.

“Lovin’ You” has already generated considerable early buzz from a special pre-release edit that received airplay months before the single’s official release, on XM Satellite Radio’s Ultra Dance channel and Los Angeles’s Indie 103.1, KDLE and 88.9, KXLU FM to promote National Cancer Awareness Month in October, 2005.

The “Lovin’ You” maxi-single includes five sensational and electrifying remixes by some of the best up-and-coming DJs/producers in the country:  Qubiq (Heaven 17’s “Hands Up to Heaven”, Jackoff Bastards’ “Black Leather”), FunkFusion (Fatboy Slim pres. RED’s “Release the Pressure”, Rosie Gaines’ “Closer Than Close 2005”) and infamous underground remixer Snatch Nubie, for whom “Lovin’ You” represents his second officially-sanctioned release.

Virgo’s unique ability to hit perfect high notes and his almost eight-octave range has already garnered him significant attention. After producing and performing on many demos for himself and other artists, and working as a session singer, he released his first commercial EP, “Yes, it is.” in Fall of 2003 on Fu2ah! Music. “Yes, it is.” was produced by Chuck Henry of 10 West Productions and is an eclectic mix of digital and progressive rock, trance, and ballads. The track “Stop Sayin’ That!” (Dark Trance Mix) from the EP won Garageband.com’s track of the day contest in April 2004 and again in January 2006.  That song also was featured as Garageband.com’s dance track of the day in February 2004.

Although singing is Virgo’s first love, his appealing all-American look has also led to a successful modeling career. Starting with a runway show led by Suzy Chapstick when he was 13, he went on to land contracts with The Dash Group and OTTO modeling agencies. Virgo has been the cover model for The Advocate, and other magazines, and appeared in numerous health and fitness ads. He has been in prime-time commercials for Bally Total Fitness and Coca-Cola. Virgo’s images have been used greeting cards, calendars and collectables for 10 Percent Productions, and he was featured in art books from acclaimed photographer Steven Underhill. Virgo has also donated his services to appear in a controversial and attention-grabbing billboard and ad campaign for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), which can still be seen at many athletic facilities, health spas, and nightclubs throughout Southern California. Most recently, Virgo became a prestigious model for the popular Ed Hardy clothing line.

Modeling will always be secondary to Virgo’s love of music and singing which moved him from New Jersey to New York to Los Angeles where he currently resides.  He has a new album of standards and love songs currently in production that will include a ballad version of “Lovin’ You” as well as covers of other timeless classics, including “Witchcraft” and “The Way You Look Tonight.” This forthcoming project, due in early 2007, is entitled “Standardly Un-Standard”, and will showcase Virgo’s vocal diversity as he adapts his enormous range for these crooners.

The “Lovin’ You” remixes will be available to DJs, club owners, and radio in April 2006. The maxi-single will be commercially released to stores and available for digital download on May 9th, 2006. “Lovin’ You” is released through Fu2ah! Music and distributed by Maximum Style Music. Bigger Better Dave

One of the best Dance Remakes Out There.
I loved this song when I was a kid, and Virgo Degan did it justice revamping it into a dance track. This was a risky thing to do, and all 5 tracks were done well- very well. His voice is not huge in these mixes, (just those wicked high-notes), which is a surprise because he has a major power-house voice. And yeah, someone has to say it.... how the HELL does he hit those notes??

Absolutely awesome!
I can not say how much I love this CD! Very well done, very clever and it just sounds so great. This is my current favorite CD. I would buy anything from Virgo now, just based on this CD. And honestly, I can not believe that he has a vocal range like that and doesn't show it off more- the high notes in this song are incredable. I mean, I have never heard a man hit notes that high.

Perfect mixes for the summer.
I say this is one of the best re-do's out there. Why has no one else thought of re-doing this song years ago? I'll tell you why- because no one can hit those colatura notes. And to have a white male tenor hit notes that high is all but unheard of. I would like to hear a slowed-down version of this song, to really get a feel for Virgo's tone, but I love the dance music none the less. Dance music is so big now, and these mixes and the artist should be out there. I look forward to hearing new dance stuff from Virgo Degan. 5 out of 5 stars.

Brings back fond memories of a special time in music.
Virgo's "Lovin' You" remixes is actually better than as described in the advertising. This is a "must-have" CD for anyone that's a fan of that era.

Love it! Awesome remake of an awesome song!
I used to LOVE this song when I was a kid! I can't believe that someone actually did a remake of it in a DANCE version!! I have Shanice's version from the early 90's, but it was only a ballad, no remixes. I love her version, but this I welcome like crazy because they are remixed. Wow, these mixes sound so cool! I am really exited about it! I want to order one but they are SOLD OUT! No doubt other people love this too. I didn't buy Virgo's other CD, but maybe I will now because this is pretty cool, so his other one must be too!

Looks Looks and more Looks..... oh yeah, and a voice too......
"How the Hell does he hit those high notes?" Who cares! He's a major hottie! I bought the CD on the cover alone! I'll let you know what I think when I get it.

Cool Beats
I never heard this song before today, but I dig it. I love the Drum and Bass mix, that's totally my style. And there is only 1 song I like from his other CD, so I'm buying the 2 single tracks from iTunes. I am almost tempted to buy this CD just hoping that are more pictures on the inside, like the cover! Can you say "Hott!!"
