Album Notes
Upon The Devil's Request is a band based in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. The band consists of Jerry Cordova, Derek Reed, Logan Kennedy, and Ryan Cook. Previously involved in musical acts together, the group has reunited after a 10 year hiatus to produce a style of music along the lines of space/dream rock, influenced by such bands as The Cure, Jane's Addiction, Pink Floyd, Yes, Failure, Tool, and Queens of the Stone Age. Musically, they have been described as having deep, pronounced, complex bass and percussion with mystical hypnotic vocals, complimented by ambient guitar riffs. Lyrically, their music deals with such topics as dreams, surrealism, illusion, and the art of deception; we often involve complex metaphors and extended comparisons in their tracks to describe the relationship between reality and other planes. The name of the band has less to do with any sort of religious connotation or affiliation, and more to do with the notion that pleasurable activities and practices can ultimately end in self destruction; the name also hints to an unknown force or desire to create music. " For us, music is an art/escape from our normal world as we delve into a world that is not always what it seems, and that has a profoundly dreamlike state to it." They are slated to release their first album this summer for both vinyl and digital release; with more music releases planned for the future. - See more at: www.uponthedevilsrequest.com
