Lullabies in G Major

Simple and with a sarcastically comical tone, and thoughtful and complex lyrics; my songs are lullabies about nightmares.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Lullabies in G Major is the closing of a chapter in my life. It was a dream, then a hope, and finally a reality; so real I can (digitally) touch it! But I have always been quite private with my music, even to close personal relationships that I hold quite dear. I suppose it's because sharing my music makes me feel vulnerable; as if it shows parts of me I don't want to shed light on: which it does. So sharing this album means so much; it means closing a chapter of isolation, and opening one of vulnerability and acceptance.

This album took 7 months to produce (record, edit, mix, master; all on my own), and spans 4 years of songwriting (it even has the first song I wrote). I probably have put close to 500 hours of work into this since January 2019; it's been the coolest project to work on, and I'm really really happy with the result.

Hearing this record is such a crazy experience because when the songs are played acoustically or live, I hear them differently than the audience. I hear them with all the "extras;" the tensions, the builds, the vocal arrangements and multi-layered guitar tracks. But when they are played live, everyone just hears an acoustic guitar and a voice. Having my dream and vision realized into a reality is unbelievable. Now I ACTUALLY hear the songs in the way they were conceptualized; and as a songwriter, what else can you ask for?

Although much work was done in isolation, this album would not have happened, and turned out the way it is without the help of these certain people: thank you Tibo Kolmel for donating some lovely cello playing on "Modern Art Piece", Mika Hosoi for creating and recreating oh so many times the incredible cover art for the album and the single, Charlotte Futcher for motivating and encouraging the early stages of the recording process and for adding life to "One and Only" and "Sunday Dress" with your voice, and finally Hunter Sones for being my "creative director", my therapist, my dear writing partner and contributor to "Record Machine", and the bestest of friend through my most trying and tedious hours, I'm happy to have made our vision a reality.

Please enjoy my lullabies,

Tosh
