Album Notes
Fall, 2001, The Whips DC formed, featuring members of Circus Lupus, Trusty, Worlds Collide and Squatweiler, to bring their version of "Hot Rock" to the DC scene... unapologetically rocknroll, informed by their underground experience, The Whips became mainstays of the DC scene during the 2000s, headlining shows and supporting for acts such as Joan Jett, Eagles of Death Metal, The Fall, Thievery Corporation, The Ravonettes, Jet, International Noise Conspiracy, Drive By Truckers, The Mooney Suzuki, and many others... Their first recording session was helmed by Brian Baker and Steve Hansgen, of Minor Threat, at the legendary Inner Ear studio. They finished up the recording with Bruce Falkinburg, from the amazing stoner rock band The Hidden Hand, who helped accurately captured the band's sound, and also included Brian Baker laying down some leads on two tracks.... What it became was the recording "What We Talk About When We Talk About Rock"... sitting on the shelf for almost 13 years, the guys at Settle For It records finally decided that this recording needed to be heard by the people, and so now it is finally being released. We hope that the people will love this as much as we do, it is our love song to DC HarDCore and the city itself... Definitely happy that this recording will now be available to the masses...
