Album Notes
The-Eyebrows got their name from a Frank Zappa quote where the subversive genius was describing what separates some songs from the rest: “The computer can’t tell you the emotional story. It can give you the exact mathematical design, but what’s missing is the eyebrows.”

The-Eyebrows’ songs are far from Zappa’s work, and reside more along the lines of quirky rock being compared to Talking Heads, Foxy Shazam, The B-52s, Pylon, REM and Devo, and at other times living in the atmosphere one would expect from The Cramps.

The band consists of long-time pals Jay Garrigan (vocals, guitar) and Shawn Lynch (“drummist”, vocals) along with cohorts Molly Poe (synths) and Jon Lock (bass). Jay and Shawn are also members of Temperance League (keys/bass and guitar, respectively), and have been playing together since 2000 with their bands Poprocket and Garrigan. Jay met Jon Lock (also of The Bleeps) in 2015 as they were asked to be house musicians for a local benefit gig, and clicked soon after Jon realized “Jay’s songs don’t suck.” Jay also recruited their favorite bartender Molly Poe to play keys… or maybe Molly recruited Jay.

The-Eyebrows have finished tracking their first record, and are currently mixing with legendary REM producer Mitch Easter at his Fidelitorium sound studio. Two tracks have been mastered by Greg Calbi out of Sterling Sound in NYC, and these two songs are currently being prepared for the band’s first 7” release while Jay and Mitch are mixing songs for their upcoming full-length album.
