Album Notes
Inviting. Intriguing. Delicious.

These are just some of the many adjectives that describe the sound of Teisha Marie. So, what about her style ? It's inviting. It's Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin meets Nancy Wilson and Debussy.

This England-born/Maryland-raised singer-songwriter, is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, and poet. She's also one who's not afraid to take risks. After graduating from Spelman College (where she studied Music History and Theory) in Atlanta, Georgia, Teisha Marie then headed to Philadelphia. "At that particular time, Philadelphia was experiencing a rebirth of the 'Philly sound', and it was great to be fully immersed in it. I got a chance to meet the greats, like Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, Bunny Sigler, and many others," she says.

Performing at D.C. area hot spots, such as Bar Nun, Mirrors Nightclub, Takoma Station, and recently at DC's annual "Can A Sista Rock A Mic" festival has proved to be both enlightening and exhilarating. Teisha reflects: "I've always written poetry, and I've always loved to sing, whether in church choirs, choruses, or at home, but I never really sang completely by myself, in public, until now."
Fast-forward to the present:

Her debut album, Addicted to Life - The LP conveys sounds of hope, love and appreciation of life's complexities. Songs like "More Important" and "Inner Truth" touch on the value of self-reflection and sincerity.

Where does her songwriting inspiration come from?
"One word: life. Life isn't one-dimensional, so why should music be that way? Music is definitely a universal language, and I want people to listen, and understand exactly what it is I'm trying to say." Her debut release, Addicted to Life - The LP definitely has a "message in the music."

For Real Music Lovers
This CD is the quintessential must-have for anyone who loves real music. There are no studio tricks or over produced tracks here. Instead you'll find the sultry, soulful stylings of a woman in love, but not with any physical lover, with the music itself. Teisha Marie's voice soothes and seduces the listener into joining her on a musical journey of addiction. Heart wrenching lyrics soaring to heights of euphoric harmony and diving to the lowest depths of heart break. Teisha's more than capable voice delivers what is missing from most musical offerings today, personality. You can feel and relate to the arist in a way that you can't with today's "Superstars," her voice really touches the listener. Standout songs like Open and Professional Liar will have singing along in agreeance. An artist like Teisha doesn't have to worry about being a flash in the pan or one hit wonder, she's here to go the distance, picking up true music connoisseurs along the way. This CD rocks!

Wonderful Sound
Great voice and a nice mix of ballads and uptempo grooves. A variety of sounds that enlighten and are a joy to hear.
