ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This reissue of Tangoman's visionary electronic album is a classic of early New-Age music that transports you to a different state of mind, one of visual landscapes, nostalgia and passionate romantic feelings. The environment that created by the music has the ability to make one see the outside world with a pleasant but strong feeling. It'll make your surroundings come to life.

Argentine born musician Jorge Heilpern has been releasing music under the Tangoman moniker for over two decades. The early 1980s found him enrolled as a student of composition at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. It was during this time that he recorded his instrumental electronic opus, After You Remember. Created entirely on a Prophet 10 synthesizer, the album uses layers and loops to build ambient soundscapes much like those of the minimalist electronica of the time. The visual and atmospheric qualities of the resulting music are reminiscent of Heilpern's previous film score work.
The ambitious theme of 'After You Remember' is to jog the memory and imagination of the listener. In this way the album can be a personalized experience for each person that listens. The significance of the electronic nature of the music is compounded by the fact that the medium had been, and has always been, criticized for being too impersonal. Indeed the composer had his doubts about electronic music, but took on the challenge to prove detractors wrong. The result is a total success: an album that ranges from droney to anthemic and reflects the vibrant personality of the composer. The South American and European background of Tangoman adds a strength and powerful romantic edge to his music, where classic tango soul is always there. After You Remember is a perfect accompaniment for driving, walking, sitting at night or in the sun, looking trough the window or listen carefully trough out your headphones, or just as an ambience environment.

"Beautiful Culture Shock"
These melodies take you to destinations, places - then the instrumentation and arrangements introduce you to a succession of the unusual and eccentric people who live there. "Beautiful culture shock" Slightly underproduced or I'd give it a 5.

dreamy, minimal electronica with subtle tango echoes.
This is a great meditative CD that quickly grows on you. The long waves of music are uplifting, but tempered with hints of melancholy. Definitely not tango, more like distant memories of porteño evenings.
