Album Notes
St. Troy BIO
No bullet proof vest, No rented $100,000 cars and No bikini clad props. All that's left is thought provoking lyrics, original tracks and smooth production. And if a poll of industry insiders who sampled the debut album from St. Troy appropriately named "FOCUSED" is any indication that may just be enough. "FOCUSED" which went on sale on September 28, 2004 is currently satisfying the no gimmicks hip hop cd collectors. The early reviews have proclaimed this album an underground classic, a straight to the point no filler cd and a refreshing change of pace from the "all of a sudden everybody's a rapper phenomenon"
Born in Baltimore, MD on July 1, 1977 Troy Bordley began rapping at the age of 14. He was entered into a talent show in Virginia Beach unprepared and lost. However the rush of performing in front of a huge crowd and the instant attention from the female members of the audience created a monster. Soon St. Troy began to dissect the art of being a rapper. Although his early influences include Naughty by Nature, Das Efx and Redman, Troy spent a year perfecting his own unique style. The following year he entered the same talent show and came in first place.
Soon after Troy and a High School classmate formed a group named Lots of Dimes.
While performing at a party they met a friend of Inspector Dek of The Wu Tang Clan and the group P.O.W. was born under the watchful eye of the Wu Tang. It was during this time that ST. Troy learned the music business. Valuable lessons were learned about the studio engineering, song writing and the production aspects of the hip hop game. More lessons were learned during a concert tour that covered the East Coast.
After two years of touring and recording with P.O.W. the group broke up due to creative differences but the experience proved to be well worth the while. The studio teachings of Inspector Dek helped St. Troy come to the conclusion that he could produce his own music and also control it. Out of this came the idea for Campus Records, an independent record label which St. Troy serves as CEO. Now in a position to oversee every aspect of his company and allowing St. Troy to be his hardest critic, he has put together a collection of music as a solo artist that is sure to please even the most skeptical music fan.
Although recent in-store autograph signings have suddenly propelled him back into the limelight he still remains humble and approachable with a personality that probably won't fit the image of a quote unquote rapper. When he is not into his music he can still be found around town with a chicken box nearby or playing basketball or video games.
But in spite of all of the things going on with him, and in spite of all of the things going on in the world and in spite of all that could happen in the future St. Troy remains FOCUSED.
