Smoke Signals

by Stolen Nations

While this band consists of only two members, the music doesn’t suffer from a lack of depth and creativity. On their debut EP they create a soundscape that cuts right through the metal and hardcore genres and could easily end up in the alternative racks.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This vinyl package includes 180gram vinyl and a hand pressed jacket from woodcut design.

Stolen Nations is the recent project from former guitarist of The Chariot, Jon Terrey, and Listener drummer Kris Rochelle. While Stolen Nations consists of only two members, the music doesn’t suffer from a lack of depth and creativity. They have managed to find a sound reminiscent of The Doors, Soundgarden, and Queens of the Stone Age.

Jon took a different approach with Stolen Nations as opposed to former bands. The music in Smoke Signals is much more approachable to the general audience, but still heavy enough to attract his past hardcore followers. Terrey shows his talent as a vocalist and guitarist by combining odd drop tunings and complex melodies on guitar, all while Rochelle’s drumming reminds the listener of Pissed Jeans or early Bleach era Nirvana. Together they create a soundscape that cuts right through the metal and hardcore genres and could easily end up in the alternative racks at record stores.

Jon Terrey is most recognized as being the guitarist from The Chariot in the mid-2000s. The Chariot was a critically acclaimed hardcore band that became well known for their complex arrangements and thoroughly engaging live shows.

Stolen Nations was formed in the fall of 2013. This four song EP marks the first release for Stolen Nations. The band has already been on a 3 week US tour this summer and plans to tour more in 2015 while working on their next album.
