Coming straight out of Chicago… Star People is busting an irie mash-up of reggae organ bubbling, banging hip-hop drums, and soulful vocal harmonies: a new style of urban roots music. The quartet is an outgrowth of the collaboration between emcee/songwriter Cosmos Ray and multi-instrumentalist J-Thermal. With Chris Neal on voice, keys, and saxophone, and Marcus Evans on drums, Star People is an all-star quartet: members of the group also devote creative effort to other acts, including Prefuse 73, Liquid Soul, Capital D, Mr. Greenweedz, The Chicago Drop, Akasha, J-Thermal Jazz Quartet, Family Style, and JT and the Clouds.
