ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is Stan's fouth album of self penned songs and without doubt his best yet. You will find a flavour of all of the styles he writes in, from the more serious Military Songs, Folk and Contempoary Ballads, to the Childrens Songs. His songs tell stories, draw you in and keep you listening. As with all his albums the quality is superb from musicians to production. Stan always sets out to provide the listener with a complete experience, this is not a one track album that you listen to once and forget about, it keeps your attention and will be played time and time again. Desribed by "The Guardian" as a potent mixture of , Tom Paxton, Ralf McTell and Gordon Lightfoot, his vocals are even more rich and mature, his songs more memorable and his future assured as a top quality songwriter.

Music & Friends
Stan is sure to make a lot of new friends and admirers with this album, the musicianship is superb as are his songs and vocals. It's a great mix of songs, all with a very personal, from the heart, feel to them. Closing Time is a classic, as is the title track Music & Friends, in fact there is not a bad track on the album. It did take me a while to get into it but it was worth the effort and I now play it constantly. I also loved When Jessica Comes to Play and Painting Angel two superbly written songs for Stan's Grandchildren. He certainly has a way with words and I will be going back for his other albums.

A Real Find
What a suprise, this is my album of the year, super songs, Stan has such a warm and expresive voice,he writes wonderful songs with pictures that are momorable and easy to listen to. I'm really taken with this and Stan's other CDs. It always suprises me that talent like his exsists without me ever having heard of him before buying this album. I love the title track and Laid To Rest, Three Sons is very moving song and Closing Time is just brillient. Painting Angel makes me smile and well the whole album flows from start to finish. If you like songs with stories, buy this I promise you won't be disappointed. I've just bought two of Stan's other albums More Than Words and Along The Way and not suprisingly they are just as good, every time I play them I'm finding new gems to listen to, it's so hard picking a favorite.
