Album Notes
Sound Imperium presents Pre-Emptive Dub Attack! - an explosively innovative blend of dub, reggae, raggamuffin, and cumbia with traces of punk and funk. This independent release combines the musical visions of Minneapolis-based Paul Harding and Dave Park, a recent transplant to New Orleans. Both are producers, multi-instrumentalists and club DJs. Dave (AKA Gringo Loco) also plays in and produces the dub/ragga band Infantry Rockers, while Paul is best known for hosting his long running KUOM show Radio K International. The result of this collaboration is a stunning and powerful album that extends beyond the conventions of the musical styles it's built from.

Pre-Emptive Dub Attack! is a pun on the disastrous US political policy of pre-emptive military action. To accompany and aid this theme, established and emerging artists from Jamaica, Cuba, Sierra Leone, Costa Rica, and the U.S. lend their voices to this revolutionary debut album. The results echo artists such as Lee Perry, Manu Chao, Ozomatli, The Clash and others. Ultimately Sound Imperium hopes its music can help evoke another world where citizens take back their political systems and initiate a more egalitarian and democratic society.

Already receiving wide-reaching recognition through two compilations on the internationally acclaimed UK label Dubhead Records (next to Adrian Sherwood, Vibronics, Twilight Circus Sound System and Big Youth), Sound Imperium is ready for its global revolution!

Bloody Dick, The Spunk Lads

A great dub disc
This is a great dub disc, perfectly suited for this new millenium. Sound Imperium happily moves it forward past the Augustus Pablo/Dennis Bovell sound, dipping happily into all the bits and pieces of today's sonic mayhem. Pre-Emptive Dub Attack, like all great albums, jumps from soundscape to soundscape without leaving behind what the band cooked up in its first rehearsal space, its first few gigs. Sometimes dub rambles, sometimes it's good make-out music. Pre-Emptive Dub Attack is more than that -- a fistful of dubplates for adrenalized culturistas who ain't comfortable with soda pop lattés for breakfast anymore.
