Album Notes
Since 1985 Kevin Slick has been recording and performing an amazing array of music. His original tunes combine the best of traditional roots with contemporary creativity. When Slick covers a tune, he breathes new life into the song by taking it into unexpected directions. The Philly Rock Guide has called his work, "A witty amalgam of folk, rock and world beat rhythms."

Option Magazine said "Slick is a songwriter who crafts his music into the far horizons of artistic vision. He takes inspiration and molds it into a rewarding end product."

He has shared the stage with artists ranging from Pete Seeger and David Bromberg to Blues Traveler and The Hooters. His live performances have taken Slick from the legendary folk club Godfrey Daniels to New York's famous CBGB's, from festivals to coffeehouses, not to mention street corner or two.

In recent years Slick's work has focused on creating amazing soundscapes for silent films. His work has included the Lon Chaney classics Phantom of the Opera, and Hunchback of Notre Dame. He has also scored Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and the German expressionist masterpiece Nosferatu.

"Impressive, among the best of the singer-songwriters, his albums are a 'must have' addition to anyone's collection" Relix Magazine

"Haunted melodies and thoughtful, poetic lyricism recall the best parts of Richard Thompson and Nick Drake. Slick is that good!" Sound Choice Magazine

"His deep resonant voice showcases a knack for warm engaging melodies and introspective wit" The Bob Magazine

"The equal of any "new folk" singer-songwriter today, creating a sonic world that is both unique and constantly interesting." Philadelphia City Paper

Provides an excellent atmospheric accompaniment to the first and definitive vamp
Providing scores for silent films is nearly a lost art. In this CD Kevin Slick provides an excellent atmospheric accompaniment to the first and definitive vampire film, the 1922 Nosferatu directed by F.W. Murnau. Great to play while watching your DVD, 8mm print or 16mm print of Nosferatu or just listen to it to create a shadowy atmosphere. I am a film collector and have several different music scores on CD to accompany my film print of Nosferatu. Each one adds a little different feeling to the film. Kevin Slick's is one of the best adding an eerie mood while not overpowering the film. Also, I have the "The Cat and the Canary" DVD from Alpha video, which is also scored by Kevin Slick. I highly recommend this DVD too; though I have to admit I bought it solely for the music since Alpha video DVDs generally have poor picture quality. Buy it just for the Kevin Slick score. My next purchase is going to be his score for "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari". I hope to see more silent film scores from Mr. Slick in the future.

Just a note, I was surprised that this was not a factory-produced CD but instead was produced on a CD burner. Nonetheless the quality is excellent.
