ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In 1994 the Northridge earthquake knocked down The French Teacher's home.

A founding member of The Bumbling Idiots, Small Portion, Chowder Horse and other appropriately-named but short-lived bands, The French Teacher was looking to create a new rock brotherhood.

He moved to Orange County, where he recruited The Loan Officer, The Minister and The Lieutenant.

Hijinks ensued.

Best New Rock Album!
Skypark's back with the best new rock album of the year! Tyrone's vocals spreading sheer passion and newly added Joey's two songs gives an impression that they haven't faded away, but been planning for this pop rock world domination! Their influences can be heard, their convictions can be felt and their songs will make you sing along! Great work guys and cheers to your producer for keeping your spirit alive in this one!

Um... Rocktabulous ?
A compelling variety of mood and story telling that is missing from alot of other music.
Also, the album being more experimental is less cohesive than Over Blue, but is more human. Especially in some of the vocal intonations, more vulnerable, more risky, more human.

Old sound, new sound
I wasn't sure what to expect from Skypark since we hadn't heard anything from them since Over Blue City. I was more than a little impressed with this CD. Their sound is tight, the beats, the melodies, the ripping bass lines. It's all there. I will ever be impressed with a band that is able to go from rocking my socks off to a smooth ballad with congas for percussion. Joey adds his vocal touch a bit more on this album than he has in others, which adds a nice balance. From Ty's smooth chops to Joey's rougher rock and roll vocals...it's simply all here.

I love the album

Theres only one word for it, awesome. I'm not just saying that because the bass player is going to be my french teacher next year, Skypark is just awesome. I love each song, esp wish. I totally recommand it. I've been listening to it almost everyday.

an unhinged blend of rock, pop, trash and philosphy
first, imagine that your ipod has all sorts of great, merely good, and admittedly bad ("guilty pleasure") rock and pop. Some blend of the Beatles, Sade, Kiss, the Kinks, Bad Company, Stevie Wonder, Bon Jovi, Black Sabbath, Psychadelic Furs, the Donnas, Simon and Garfunkle. Now imagine that when you hit shuffle, instead of shuffling the music, it shuffles the band members and themes. skypark has made a remarkably shallow, catchy, fun record punctuated with depth, aggression, dissatisfaction and poetry by rummaging through the dustbins of pop culture. Not as good as their heroes, but few fans make music this good.

You know what? I like it.
This CD makes for a good time. Through all of the talent and musicianship you can tell that these guys just really like what they're doing and are having fun, regardless of what people think about it technically, which, ironically, makes it better. You've got your share of yell-along rock (ie The Year of No Ambition) and melodies that showcase Tyrone's lovely voice (Serenade), crazy-addictive pop hooks (Ocean of Secrets), and songs that reveal the fact that these guys aren't taking themselves 100% seriously- in a good way. It's a grab bag of goodies. Try it. You'll like it too.

Go Tyrone!
Great CD from Tyrone and Co. The first three songs are a great balance of rock, passion, and just great music! Probably the last Skypark album ever, and still tough to top Over Blue City, but some great stuff from a great band.
