All Our Days

by Sid Batham

All Our Days is the final single to be taken from Sid Batham's EP, 'The Demo Tapes'. As fun as it is funky, the song is Sid at his full-throttle best. Energetic, upbeat and crazed, yet the musicianship is as smooth as ever, paired with lo-fi production.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
After being sampled by Cyril Hahn, headlining Electrowerkz and playing Wireless, The Great Escape and Lovebox in 2013, it seemed Sid Batham was well on his way to the highest stratosphere of major label pop stardom. But Sid wasn’t satisfied with being just another pop star. He ducked under the radar for three years and taught himself how to produce between his bedroom and the legendary RAK Studios in London. The multi-instrumentalist experimented with a fusion of influences that resulted in dozens of soulful, R&B tinged pop tracks.

In October 2017 he returned to releasing music with the thumping banger 'Feels' (“a sublime piece of pop music that truly brings the funk” – CLASH) and followed it up with Spotify Fresh Finds hit ‘Say The Word’ (“Vibrant” – The 405 and “Exhilarating” – Hillydilly) in January 2017. In 2018 he released ‘Called For’ (“luxuriant and bouncy instrumentation” – Cloudberry Mornings) and “Like I Do” (“infectiously catchy” – The Line Of Best Fit), both from his forthcoming EP with London based label Olympia Records. He also returned to the stage with a full band for widely applauded headline sets in his hometown of London.

Sid then found himself inspired to go back into the studio to focus solely on songwriting and honing his production skills. This intense period of writing lasted 18 months, including for fellow UK artists Pip Millett and Caan, and has produced a raft of new material. As a result, he is now back with brand new EP 'The Demo Tapes' which kickstarts just the first of many forthcoming releases for Sid Batham.

Notably, the EP has been fully written by Sid, and every instrument you hear - from funky guitar to jazz piano - is played by the multi instrumentalist. Producer Rob Brinkmann (Drake, Royal Blood, Tom Odell, Alicia Keys) co-produced, alongside Sid himself.

Whilst first single ‘Vices’ is a surefire summer pop track filled with nods to the 80’s, ‘We’ has a lo-fi, soulful R&B feel, and ‘All Our Days’ is an unashamedly in-your-face funk tune. This eclecticism set these three songs apart from the many others Sid has written and produced, and for a while he thought they might remain unreleased. However, despite not being completed, it simply didn’t feel right to leave them on the cutting room floor, so to speak.

As Sid explains…

“These three songs were written at the start of a year and a half long writing & production phase that I entered into after my last releases. For me they sparked off a new creative lease of life, and acted as a bridge between my previous material and the tunes I’m getting ready to release next. Though I never fully finished them, I do love them and wanted to share them so that they can bridge the gap for the listeners as well. Onwards…“ - Sid Batham

While it may seem unorthodox for an artist to release what are essentially demos, these songs provide a taste of what’s to come. Sid hopes The Demo Tapes, combined with a headline show on the 10th of October, are a welcome return.
