ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Springfield, Massachusetts' most addictive, controversial, underrated, and hands down talented lyricist/producer, Sicarii (Ice Grill), is back with his sophomore street album, "The Awakening". The highly anticipated full length has been alluded to by Sicarii since he first went solo on 2009's classic, "Before I Sleep". Rebuilding a now-solo fan base and career from the ground up, Sicarii took to the streets to promote his debut, and the inevitable follow up. Sicarii and the 'Done Clinic team swallowed their pride, after 10 years in the local scene, and started at point A. They invaded open mics and hip-hop functions throughout the Greater Springfield area, vehemently promoting their raw brand of rap music, "Before I Sleep" and warning the public that "The Awakening" was coming and it was serious.
Now it's here! After almost two years of blood, sweat and tears, Sicarii returns with 19 songs of blistering hip-hop music. Building a ravenous fan base, continuing to release quality music, The DREAMS Mixtape in 2010, performing with the likes of Golden Era icons, The Artifacts, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, and running local shows with Massachusetts and Connecticut talent, Sicarii has solidified himself in the Murder Mass hip-hop scene and now aims to open himself up to th rest of the world. "The Awakening" is clearly Sicarii's most focused, accessible, and yet, absolutely thorough, material to date.
Produced entirely by Ice Grill (Sicarii's alias behind the boards) the music on this album ranges from triumphant to bleak, hopeful to hell bound, enjoyable to introspective but always with the thick, rugged, real rap aesthetic that Sicarii fans have become accustom to. While continuing to up the ante and push the envelope where his last two projects left off, "The Awakening" does mark one departure from normal DC procedure: Guest Artists. Of course the 'Done Clinic fam, is, and always will be included, but here Sicarii reaches out to some of the same MC's he shared time with in the trenches for the last decade, assembling the best of the best, cream of the crop, most dangerous of New England's rhyme spitters to contribute doses. Hartford, Connecticut's Blacastan, hot off an album on Brick Records and a guest appearence on the upcoming Jedi Mind Tricks album, joins Sic for "There Will Be Blood" and Godfather of Murder Mass hip-hop, KrumbSnatcha slides through twice, once on goosebump inducing "Mirrors Remix" (also featuring Frank White) and also on "Penmanship", a club rattling lyric fest. Sic also teams up with Vorheez (of the Problemaddicts), Grime Tha MC (of the Camp), ex-Kin Dread partner, Frank White, and Bishop, who himself is burning through the state with his JUICE Mixtape.
Sicarii took listeners through his drug addicted, rock bottom world on "Before I Sleep", then survived and revealed some of his aspirations and nightmares on THE DREAMS MIXTAPE. Now he opens your eyes wide as we wake up for another day on "The Awakening". Only God knows what tomorrow has in store...
