Lush washes of power pop meet edgy, irreverent quirky pop for a mix that is both comforting and uprooting. Brilliant pop.

Album Notes
"Imagine a young Liam Gallagher if he'd been raised by Quentin Crisp" (Rocksound)
"The underclass's very own poet laureate" (The Times)
A difficult one... No doubt...
Sometimes a band can come along and baffle you... confuse your senses... maybe even cloud your judgement... The Servant are such a band... these schizoid art-rock popsters love to play havoc with conventional taste buds owing to a chaotic amalgamation of influences... a meticulous untidiness... and improperly sinister lyrics...

But, like a journalist recently said of one of their high octane live gigs: "The Servant are like the product of some schoolboy larking about with a chemistry set: they're messy, sure, but they go off with one hell of a bang" (6Music).

But the world is often ironic... unheard of at home, the band is already "making it big" on the continent: Up for Best New Band at the French NRJ Awards (losing to Maroon 5), peaking at number 2 in radio charts and headlining the infamous "Olympia" in Paris; Heavy TV rotation, MTV festival headliners and sold out tours in Italy, not to mention 6 page spread in Vogue (sic); plus high radio play in Finland, Norway and Russia and now also making waves in the US after supplying music for the trailer of cult movie SIN CITY.

As for the UK, after two critically acclaimed mini albums in 2000 and 2001 ("The very edge of sanity never sounded better" (Melody Maker)), the first single from their debut album, "Orchestra" made "runner up single of the week" on NME, but remained an alternative pop "hybrid" totally overlooked by UK Radio while inescapable the length and breadth of Europe.

Thus... They remain total unknowns in the UK... Shame, my guess is that it is may (not) be for long...

Buy this album!
This cd is amazing! I picked it up after hearing cells on the sin city trailer and was stunned that the rest of the album was just as great as that song. You need to pick this album up if you have doubt that there is anymore original tunes out there. The music is incredible and the whole package gets 5 stars from me!

Let them serve you up some banging tunes
Great album. Lyrically very clever with some nice layers to many of the songs. Stand out tracks for me are Cells, Body and Orchestra

i love this album. very original lyrics and music... i first got hooked when i heard "Cells" and tried my darndest to find the cd. sadly, no one carried it, so i ordered it from this site and i was so ECSTATIC to get it :D i have seriously been waiting and waiting to find this album, because i heard most of The Servant's songs and loved them. i really like "Orchestra", "Body", and generally everything else.

Friggin' Fantastic
I was skeptical the rest of the album could be as good as the brilliant Cells track but I was pleasantly surprised. Pop it in, make yourself a drink, and relax to the grooves.

Hypnotic and Pleasantly Distinct
While influences from great brit bands like Placebo, Oasis, and even Radiohead are apparent, The Servant still manages to offer up a full album of symphonic ecstasy that earns them the right to be called bonafide originals. Edgy but sweet- Dirty and brilliant. This album is fantastic start to finish, but the stand out songs are easy to list: The poetic 'Orchestra'; the tender and catchy 'Liquefy'; the twisted, vaguely eurotrashy, pop tune 'Jesus Says'; and most noteably, the sultry and thundering powerhouse song of anti-conformity called 'Cells'. Buy this album. Love this album. Pass it on to your friends.

These guys rock
I love the first song on this album (Cells), and in fact bought the album on the strength of this dark, rythmic pulse. I fully expected the rest of the album to be in the same vein, but tracks like Liquefy, and Orchestra are more melodic for a nice change, and equally good. Then you throw in the decidedly funky Jesus Says, and you have a good mix of damn good music. I'm not sure how well qualified I am to review music, but I know what I like, and I really like the Servant.

This CD is amazing... a brilliant must have!
This CD is great... All of the songs are very well done, and creative. Not like any other band I have heard. Very good CD, I recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I love it :-)
I love this CD. I think Orchestra has to be my favorite, it just gives me a rush of life...Liquify, Body and Cells are also amazing, well they all are. I just can't figure out why the CD isn't even available in the U.S. I burned this CD for a lot of my friends and they all loved it as well. BUY IT!

Fantastic - Uplifting melodies and great vocals = 10/10
Brilliant! I searched the web for the owner of the orchestral sample on the Sin City trailers and came across their album - great band. The songs are well written and incredibly uplifting - Cells, Beautiful Thing, Liquify and Not Scared, Terrified are my best songs - Fantastic!!
