Album Notes
The Latin-Rock explosion began, when Santana first burst onto the music scene in the late sixties and early Seventies. While Santana was becoming popular in the West Coast, a young group of musicians from the Bronx in New York City wanted to build upon the Caribbean roots of Afro Cuban Jazz, Rhythm and Blues and New York City Salsa. The group is called Seguida. Seguida's music is a unique mix of funk, hip hop, rock, r&b, salsa and jazz.Building on the strong foundation laid down by the original members of Seguida...present day bandleader Steve Adorno, Record Producer Jay Henry and original founding fathers Lou Perez and Randy Ortiz, along with vocalists Lori Rose, are bringing Seguida into the future.Executive producers/recording engineers Jay Henry, Steve Adorno and Kevin Zambrana have been recording at Jay’s Native Life Studios in San Diego, California and at Kevin’s ZPI Studios in Queens, N.Y. Many special guests have been added to the already powerful Seguida lineup.

Joining veteran Seguida vocalists Lori Rose will be International Latin Recording Superstar Kevin Ceballo .K.C. will be lending his unique vocal sound to the new Seguida music. Our next special guest is an old family friend. Latin Jazz pianist Larry Harlow is a true living legend of Afro-Cuban music. "El Judio Maravilloso", as he is affectionately called by his colleagues, completely revolutionized what is known today as "SALSA". For Fania Records, he has produced over 260 CD's for various artists, and as a leader over 50 cd's including the Masterpiece"La Raza Latina, a Salsa Suite.” Larry also produced the now classic Seguida CDs "LOVE IS"....And "ON OUR WAY TO TOMORROW". The brass section is led by special guest and Seguida founding father, sizzling trumpeter Pete Nater.Pete has a reputation for virtuosity and excellence in the Latin music field. Pete has been performing with the biggest names in Latin Jazz and Salsa including Tito Puente, Grammy Award winners Spanish Harlem Orchestra and The Bronx Horns. Pete knows what it takes to keep dancers on their feet!the brass section is rounded out by Trumpeter Will Olenick ,Trombonist Jose Davilla, Woodwind section Phil Ocasio & Julian Meyers. Our next special guest is the young and upcoming vocalist Anthony León. Anthony is known as “El Nene Del Barrio” and has a fantastic vocal sound which really shows the diversity that he offers to the public. Young Cruize is on the scene! Cesar Cruz a.k.a. Young Cruize brings a fresh new Hip Hop sound to the inventive sounds of Seguida. Born in Mexico, and now living in San Diego, Cruize tells his unique story with pride. His love for music and consistent motivation gives him a positive edge, as he shares his story through his powerful words. Young Cruize is proud to be working on Seguida’s much anticipated 3rd album. Be on the lookout for our next up & coming young star! Jaelyn Taylor joins SEGUIDA in her debut recording performance. Jaelyn will be the one to watch as she starts her recording career representing the future of Seguida. Her vocal on “Red Light Green Light 123” is impressive, especially when you realize the amazing talent Jaelyn projects at the tender age of ten! Jaelyn continues to grow as an artist performing in theater productions, and live vocal performances in her hometown of San Diego. A bright future is certainly on the horizon for this very talented young lady…There will be more Seguida surprises in store so stay tuned . We are sure that you will enjoy Seguida’s 35 year tradition of music from the heart and soul. Latin Jazz radio stations around the world recognize Seguida's music, and numerous compilation albums have featured Seguida's music throughout the years. Seguida invites you to share their musical vision and journey into the future.

Rebirth of SEGUIDA
Seguida III carries forward the legacy of this pioneering Latin fusion band, remaining consistent with Seguida’s vision and yet pushing the music forward. The difference with the early Seguida albums is in the much more polished production of III. “We were kids then,” explains Randy Ortiz. Although the sometimes ragged productions of the early albums held an appeal to rock listeners, Adorno wanted a more sophisticated but still earthy sound. “I worked with recording engineer Jay Henry to create a great sound and to give audiophiles a bang for their buck,” explains Steve Adorno. “We worked on the mixing for three months.” The result is a well-crafted, tightly melded orchestration of sounds and moods.
Seguida III is a strong return to form of a band that has been absent too long and under recognized for its achievement. That may change however when Seguida will be featured on a PBS film documentary based on Jim McCarthy and Ron Sansoe’s wonderful book, "Voices of Latin Rock". While we await forthcoming gigs, we can sit content with Seguida III, a solid achievement, marking the exciting rebirth and continuation of the Seguida legacy.

The music, the lyrics, voices of all the performers are absolutely outstanding. Have not stopped listening to this CD since it was purchased. Hands down the best CD I have purchased in a very long time!

New CD - Seguida III
Vicki Sola Latin Beat Magazine – Oct.2007 Vol.17 #8
New York Latin Rock group Seguida is back on the scene after 30 years with its
new CD Seguida III and its own specialized mix of funk, hip hop, rock,
R & B, salsa and jazz. The original group, composed of young, South Bronx-bred 2nd
Generation Puerto Ricans was hailed by The Village Voice as “ The Son’s of Santana”, after
The debut of their 1974 album , Love Is… Seguida. During that era, the music of artist
Like Tito Puente, Ray Barretto, Eddie Palmieri, Larry Harlow, James Brown, Cream, The
Beatles came pouring out of apartments all over the South Bronx and beyond.
Santana, popular on the west coast, exploded on to the scene with its smash version of
Tito Puente’s Oye Como Va, inspiring a whole generation, including Angel Nater,
Who formed Latin Soul Inc. and the creators of Devoshun, Louie Perez, Carlos go-go
Gomez and Steve Adorno. Booth bands played the AM radio hits of the era, intergrating
Latin funk standards, an unusual approach. Rock Bassist ans arranger Randy Ortiz,
Searching for musicians who could actualize his concept of synthesizing the electric
Qualities of rock with a sizzling Latin rhythm section, found himself highly impressed
By Latin Soul inc. and Devoshun. Ortiz took things a step further, adding dual trumpet
And brass sections, reminiscent of the cojunto style. Seguida was born.Ortiz, Nater,
Perez and Adorno had created a new sound. A New York hybird of Rock and Salsa.
Seguida opened for many Latin Stars and subsequently signedc with Fania Records.
They received an invitation to open for that now infamous Fania All Star Concert at
Yankee Stadium, the one that ended when crowds rushed the field.
Seguida’s Yo Nunca Te Olvidare , is considered to be a watershed number,
With its salsa format that features English-language lyrics and then soneros that sing
In Spanish during the montuno and solo sections. The song received international
Airplay and acclaim, and is credited with paving the way for contemporary salsa
Crossover music. Now, in 2007,Seguida’s current bandleader/ producer Steve Adorno
Says, “ we’re still making Latin Alternative Music and thrilled to be releasing our new CD!
Hasta la proxima!
