Album Notes
Ryan Hanifl is a new emerging artist in the music world. Once a member of several touring bands, Ryan decided to leave band life and concentrate on a way of making music that is entirely his own. Quite frankly, his music is a combination of nothing you have ever heard before. He wrote, arranged, produced, and performed all the music on his full-length solo debut Sourpuss.

The diversity in Hanifl’s music comes from his out-of-the-ordinary background. Growing up in Minnesota, Ryan was a member of the prestigious La Crosse Boys Choir that traveled the globe. And although Ryan did not pick up guitar until the age of eighteen and the piano until he was twenty-one, Ryan graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston with a degree in music composition. From Massachusetts he moved to Los Angeles where he began working for renowned film composer Hans Zimmer and soon branched off on his own as the in-house composer for a Los Angeles based music production company. Ryan’s classical training combined with his commercial background is what gives Sourpuss its theatricality and yet simultaneous independent quality. Ryan Hanifl is a new kind of artist, one that is distinctly original but universally appealing.
