Album Notes
On this, my 9th solo release, aside from the regular nods to the legendary guitarists from the world of jazz, funk, blues and rock whose highly influential work continues to inspire me to no end, a whole new world had opened up in order for me to both enter and embrace the new reality and fully recognize the unlimited possibilities of the Midi Guitar which as a result was used to record the following parts: upright bass - tracks 1 & 6, vibes - tracks 1, 6 & 10, Fender Rhodes - tracks 2, 4, 9 & 10, piano - track 9, horn stabs - track 10. electric bass - tracks 6 & 8, Midi bass - tracks 4 & 9, lush pads - tracks 3 & 10 and orchestral symphonic - track 5.

(As you will see below in the album personnel line up, no bassists or keyboard players were hired for this project).

I would also like to add that track 3 was written as a nod to the late legendary King of Pop, Michael Jackson, an artist whose talent was truly remarkable and one of a kind. And track 9 was also written as another nod to the late Jazz Rap pioneer GURU of both Gangstarr and Jazzmatazz fame, a brother who I will never forget for his sheer talent.

"Straight-Up Street" is for the most part, hip hop jazz and not to be confused with jazz hip hop which basically consists of 3-4 “live“ jazz musicians jamming together with a rapper and/or DJ, whereas on the other hand, hip hop jazz is primarily DJ driven where the DJ creates the foundation by utilizing various sounds, break beats and rare grooves hereby providing the back drop for a jazz musician(or two) to improvise over, an approach(No apologies here I‘m afraid)that I am extremely proud of and one that I can live with. Finally, many thanks for taking the time out to read this and should you dig this album, long may you enjoy.
