Album Notes
Rhombus' Progressive Rock stylings transform eclectic genres and funky beats into something groovily delicious.

Rhombus is:

Aaron Tappan - guitar, vocals
Brandon Warrick - guitar, vocals
Fritz Armstrong - bass, vocals
Matt Mehawich - keyboards, vocals
Bradford Lenart - drums, percussion, samples

Rhombus' roots go way back to Tappan, Matt and Bradford's early college years where they met and jammed out in a local funk band called the Ill Gotten Buty around the campus of Illinois State University. Tappan and Bradford played for several years in and around Chicago in the bands ATABA and the LosDes Groove Orchestra. Fritz was originally drafted into ATABAs lineup on bass, and hung-out for what would become Rhombus. Matt resurfaced in 2005 in Chicago and Rhombus was formed. In the fall of 2007 they cemented their lineup by adding local Chicago artist Brandon Warrick.

Josh from The CrudeReview

It's progressive reggae funk metal, duh.
A rhombus is a four-sided parallelogram with equal sides. Like a diamond.
Darth Vader once told me when I was a young lion cub, "If you build it, they will come." Well I worked my ass off, built it, and they came. I thought life was good. I thought I had it all. Then I heard this band and realized it was all bullshit. Up was now down, fact was now fiction. I'll have to begin anew.
Over the past few years, the Chicago music scene has been a rock that's starting to moss on one side from a lack of movement. A stale wind. Then, one night, I happened to catch this band at the Abbey. It was like a skyscraper suddenly appeared on the Chicago Skyline, overnight.
A unique blend of metal, funk, beer and reggae, Rhombus begs your ear to listen to what might come next. Like Howard Stern or Joe Biden.
All members of the band are clearly musician's musicians but they still manage to reel in the fish with hooks that would have my dead grandmother singing in the shower. They're complicated catchy. Sophisticated pop. A $500 pair of pants with a tuxedo t-shirt.
Although Arkadoomia does not quite capture their live appeal, it is an impressive effort from an unsigned band. This album hits you in the face like your drunken father. It's that good.
For a minute there, I thought I was starting to grow some moss myself.....but I think, just maybe, I found a Rhombus in the rough.
See their shows. Buy this album.
