Album Notes
For more than three decades, Richard Wood has impressed audiences with his electric live show all across the world. He has won countless awards, including most recently the 2019 ECMA Instrumental Recording of the Year for his 8th album, Unbroken.

Following the tragic events of 911, Richard, like everyone, was feeling confused and heartbroken over the insurmountable and unfathomable losses of lives that resulted from those tragic and senseless events. Through the power of music, Richard meshes hope, healing, and love into this original composition, The White Dove.

Richard Wood's fiery brand of Cape Breton infused fiddling will leave you breathless and begging for more!

Highlights of Richard’s career so far include TV guest appearances with Shania Twain on “David Letterman” and “Good Morning America,” Carnegie Hall with Irish legends, The Chieftains, he was the featured performer on CBC’s Canada Day on Parliament Hill, “Rita MacNeil and Friends,” and with Jean Butler of Riverdance on “Celtic Electric.” He’s played at the Lincoln Centre in New York City, Epcot at Disney World, and was a featured performer in the touring fiddle spectacle “Bowfire”. He also played on Capital Hill in Washington for Canadian American friendship day.

Richard has played for Canada’s Prime Minister and Governor General, the Queen of England (in Toronto), and for the Emperor of Japan in Tokyo. He continues to tour Canada, USA, the UK & Europe headlining concert halls and folk festivals.

Richard is proud to have entertained Canada’s armed forces in the North Pole, Bosnia, and twice in Afghanistan. He has 8 solo albums (three of which are under the Iona Label in Scotland and distributed Internationally). Richard’s current album, Unbroken, was mastered by multi Grammy award winning, Bob Ludwig. Richard also performs on the UK CD entitled "Evolving Tradition II". Richard has also released “Richard Wood: Music Collection Volume 1" which includes sheet music for 60 of his original compositions.

Richard has won countless championships as both a step dancer and as a fiddler.

Along with winning many Music PEI awards, Richard has also won 4 Canadian East Coast Music Awards. Twice he has earned the Don Messer Memorial Trophy for top Maritime fiddler.

He has also appeared in Billboard Magazine out of New York and on a BBC TV special in Scotland.

MacLean’s Magazine named him one of the Top 100 Canadians to watch in the 21st Century.
