The Low Ceiling

by Tyler Stenson

Pop-Rock; lyrically driven acoustic-pop-rock with subtle blues undertones and not-so-subtle Counting Crows influences. Undeniably contagious melodies and a rare brand of feel-good songwriting that will make you cry while you're dancing.

Album Notes
Music that makes you cry while you’re dancing, The Low Ceiling is a lyrically sweet account of a formative era. Stenson’s sophomore album is thick with bold and beautiful melodies, infectious lyric and feel-good blues undertones.

What set out to be a summer-long project, in a low ceiling basement, left behind an enormous sound for the years- The writer’s young voice is all Hope and it shines in The Low Ceiling’s golden vibe all its own.

Born in Lander, WY Tyler Stenson (28) considers himself a cowboy. Now Portland based, he humbly writes of those days as if a Midwestern Poet; blending the old countryside with the new cityscape and delivering his elegant songs from the heart, simple and true.

Twice named Portland's Performing Songwriter of the Year (2007 & 2008) and boasting a host of other professional acknowledgments, Stenson’s poignant sound is putting lumps in throats and attracting a train of followers that find a piece of themselves in the sincerity of his words and the authenticity of his performances.

Former songwriter and front-man for his bands Rhetoric Tuesday and Lander, Stenson can now be found returning to his folk roots where lyrics are king. Combining his soothing vocals, understated elegance, contagious melody and classic storytelling, Stenson has set out to brave the national scene and create something powerfully timeless with his signature sound.

These guys ROCK!
I really love this CD it chills me out when ever I need it. My sister an UofO alumn introduced me to this CD and its in the player non-stop. Keep making more and keep playing at Taylor's I will be there to watch as soon as I turn 21!! Thanks for your music!

Rhetoric Tuesday equals Amazing
The first time I heard this CD, I paused for a moment and thought, "Is this Adam Duritz?" (It really does sound like him the first time you hear it.) Of course it wasn't, and although it doesn't live up to the Counting Crows entirely, The Low Ceiling is AMAAAAAAZING! This is music that calms you down and yet makes you feel alive. I love it!

The Girl in Plaid

"Something Beautiful" rocks my socks
I'm buying this CD just for "Something Beautiful". I haven't really played any of the other samples; I played that one and I've just been listening to that 2-minute snippet on repeat and waiting desperately for the CD to arrive. I see major Counting Crows influence here, but that's definitely not a bad thing...

The Low Ceiling
I loved this albumn, it feels like 93 again, with "August and Everything After" comming out. It took me back, and if your a Counting Crows fan this is THE group for you.

These boys can play
I stumbled onto this band in a smoky little bar in eugene, or. Apperently one of there first gigs. Came for a brew with my girl, got a kickass show and left with a The Low ceiling which has found its way into my disc player more often then not. If there talent is an indication of there future, expect to see them around for a long while. This cd is true to the music and just plan kicks ass. Buy it now or wait a year or two and try and find it at Virigin records, good luck though chances are its sold out. peace.

Great sound and feel!
Deep lyrics propel this group into the undertones of such famed artists such as the counting crows or Gin Blossoms. Great CD!

The Low Ceiling: GREAT first album!!
The Low Ceiling is great rock/folk feel good music. All of the tracks can be played over and over, and the more you listen to them, the more you understand about the depth of lyrics Tyler Stenson writes. My personal favorite: Mackenzie Rides Motorcycles.

Soulful Rock - No Fluff
The sound on The Low Ceiling is superb. Piano textured upbeat rock with soulfully delivered articulate lyrics. Rock and roll with many layers of sound makes this a disc you can listen to over and over again - even though it has just six songs. Many longer releases simply have a couple of throw away songs to pad the compilation. Not here.
