With the assumption of the name Releveler, Krhys Wiebe adds his own special blend to the vast musical collective. Sending ripples through the airwaves, Releveler carves its own niche somewhere between Gary Numan and cEvin Key — a sound Krhys says is continuously evolving. “I'm constantly learning,” says the 33-year-old Winnipeg native.
“I'll sit at the computer with a groove in my head and I'll start with the drums — I tinker around on the keyboard and then once I think I've got it, I add the lyrics.” Not only can you hear releveler's original works on a number of LPs and records, but you can harness the releveler sound for your personal creations. Bands like California 's Call me Alice, Flesh Field and the Internet musicians that form Dark Humor have also utilized his skills to remix their originals.
Krhys has worked with the band Mannequin Depressives on songs like Autofire, Zero Tolerance and Erase It — some of which have been released (check out EP Sweet Disease) and some, poised for release. And with those under his belt, Krhys was snapped up by indie label Interdimensional Industries in 2004 to produce a sound that could only be described as dark electronic. Sometimes dark, sometimes upbeat but always enticing, releveler can be heard a number of times on Interdimensional Industries' A Consortium of Sonic Emanations, volume one, on the 12-inch single Untouched, and is featured on the IndustrialNation v3.0 compilation with a remix of Cryptomnesia's Adding Water to the Ocean.
