Album Notes
Music has always played a significant role in my life. Growing up, I was faced with many
challenges as a result of two car accidents. While recovering from my injuries, music provided
an escape from the difficulties with which I was dealing. As I got older, a variety of musical
artists helped me, through their songs, to recognize the beauty in myself, even when my peers
didn’t see it.
When I look around today - in the news and on the internet, it breaks my heart to see
girls and women (and even men) going to dangerous lengths in order to live up to society’s
standards of the ideal body image. I hope that, through the songs on this album, I can be a
messenger and bring inspiration to others, giving them the same comfort that those songs
brought me so many years ago. Not everyone fits into the same cookie-cutter mold, and that’s

This CD would not have been possible without the incredible creativity of my sister,
Sarah Rae Johnson, and musical arrangements by our collaborator, Lorne Dechtenberg.
I would also like to thank my parents, Johnny and Lynn States, for their support – both
emotional and financial – as I pursue my dream of working in the field of music. Thanks are
also due to Lisa Barger for her excellent photography, and to Dave Henderson for his
recording expertise. Lastly, I want to thank YOU, my listeners, for sharing this great
experience with me. This CD has been a true labor of love, so I’m over the moon to
finally be able to share it with everyone!

And, always remember to love yourself, because what you think of yourself is more
important than what anyone else thinks of you.
