ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Who: Ray Charles Ives
What: EP and CD Release: clandestine pedestrian

"(Ray Charles Ives) has you scrambling for old Shaft reruns while simultaneously pouring your heart out to the nearest heart that will listen...Their new album Clandestine Pedestrian is what funk would be if it had a bleeding heart and open mind."
Rob DeWalt

Feathericci and Diplomat studied music together at the College of Santa Fe. Once meeting, they began to perform with varying groups, in a multitude of styles: jazz, rap, rock, pop. Now, following a style all their own, they compose simple, lyrical masterpieces and infuse them with raw energy. There goal is for an energetic experience; an experience where they are truly present, listening and playing off of each other. Their form of improvisation is one where they move within the structure they created, playing with the dynamics, the texture, and the tone. One can get a sense of what they are about by just considering their name, a combination of R and B artist, Ray Charles, and the experimental composer, Charles Ives.

You listen to Ray Charles Ives and it's like hearing a song you know, though you've never heard it before. Their music is like a river: always changing; always staying the same. Bubbling electronic sounds flow together, supported by funky basslines and complicated drum sequences. A musical force to be reckoned with.

Ray Charles Ives' debut recording, clandestine pedestrian, is a five-song studio EP.

Limited edition of 1000 CDs.

Pretty dang sweet funk C
This was a great pick. I clicked the link at the checkout recommending it, and I got hooked. Very sweet music. I would love to see more from RCI in the future.

CD Baby

Reminiscent of Herbie Hancock, Medeski, Martin & Wood and one of my favorites, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Ray Charles Ives nails groovy, acid jazz rock on the head. It's hard to believe that this Santa Fe duo rocks out with so much sound and imagination, from trippy keyboards and addictive beats to those funky bass lines you can't live without. Lining it up, track after track, with loop driven, danceable music, they layer in the fender rhodes, drums, voice, sampler and various effects as well, making for a highly-pleasing album. Take a little mind trip with "Clandestine Pedestrian" and you won't be sorry.

Listening to this album can make you feel better
Ray Charles Ives holds it down like a loaded money clip. These guys are right on the mark and know how to keep the listener, dancer (or anyone else for that matter) engaged. Their sound is rich and heady, tastes great and is less filling, leaving one wanting more. Loaded with funky styles, bangin beats, untouchable riffs and loveable loops, Clandestine Pedestrian is your new best friend. Buy this album because it will lead you to places you've always wanted to go, perhaps to places you've been and even to places you had no idea existed.

Quit Reading and Click "Add to Cart"
If, dear reader, you do not take to my imperative above, nor to either of the other two reviews here, then you can go to the artist's website and listen to one of the songs they have for free download. These guys are among the most organic electronica duos I've heard. Walking in the woods with this music will impart a unique flavor. Every cracking stick and chirping bird will add to the solid foundation lain by Feathericci and Diplomat (the two guys who created Ray C. Ives). So, I reiterate, quit sitting on the fence and click "Add to Cart".

These guys are tightly woven.
I am hooked on listening to RCI - each time I play it I find a funky underlying tone not yet heard the previous time. The music is tightly woven and you just can't help but do some booty shakin' I bought 4 more to give as gifts!
