Album Notes

Philly born, Phoenix resident rapper and teacher Random (Random Beats, Big Ran, Mega Ran) is ready to release a new project, an EP entitled "Patches and Glue."

It comes as no surprise being that since Random teaches the youth, he didn't have to look any further than his own adolescent years for inspiration.

"Childhood memories helped me with this concept," Random says, "On the block, everybody had a bike, and when you got a flat tire, you needed patches and glue in order to keep moving." "This album depicts what has helped to keep me moving, humor and hope."

"Patches" manages to cram the fun nostalgia of "Mega Ran" and the introspective soul bearing of "The Call" into one 9-track package. Songs like "The Getdown" and "Inbox" showcase Ran's witty side, while "Fly" and "Twice Over" provides us a glimpse of Random's never-ending struggle as an educator and musician, all the while offering hope for the future.

"Patches and Glue" features stunning production by RAHM Nation's DN3, Ohene and Storyville; K-Murdock of Panacea (Rawkus Records), Raze Brooks, JonBap and accomplished producer 88-Keys, known for his work with Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Kanye West and more.

Random and producer DN3 host a weekly podcast, entitled RAHM Radio West which has featured such artists as Little Brother, Shock G, EMC and many more.

"This project is all of me, Mega Ran, Random Beats, Big Ran, held together by patches and glue."

Random's past projects, 2007's "Mega Ran" and 2006's "The Call," were both met with high acclaim and this anticipated RAHM Nation album is expected to repeat success. Recently, mulitnational corporation Capcom granted Random an exclusive license and approval for the "Mega Ran" album, and its music appears in the independent film "Second Skin" which is also gaining rave reviews.

"Patches and Glue is not a band aid; it's stronger. but it's not the cure," says Ran. "I'm still working on that."

Random Is Fire!
This is a real hot EP. Ran has some of the illest flow I have ever heard and there is some great production too. I Pray is one of the best tracks I have ever heard. Get this!

Matthew Weiss

Line for line there is not a wasted moment on this album. The tracks display 360 degrees of the artist, from anger to humor. The beats are excellent. The sound is professional. The rhymes are 100 percent on point.

Ran Owns the Summer of '08
The hottest EP so far this year. Bang this in your whip with all the windows down. When you pull up to a stoplight, if the folks in the car next to you don't all turn their heads and start smilin', check their hearing!
