Artist Information

The Provocative Whites is a modern American rock and roll band formed in the late winter of 2005 in Tucson, Arizona. The four piece includes singer/lyricist/guitarist Mike Rowden, drummer/percussionist James Few, guitarist Kane Flint, and bassist Tadj Roi. The rhythym section features creative, dynamic drumming producing a fluent and forceful atmoshpere, with cascading roll-arounds and cymbal crashes. The bass spans from aggressive growls to lively, melodic tones. The textured guitars provide euphonic hooks, ranging from heavy, driving licks to complimentary, riff-oriented melodies. The distinctive vocals and lyrics evoke powerful imagery that listeners connect with on a personal level.

In the fall of 2006 they released their self titled debut album following a west coast tour, including shows in Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and San Diego. After the successful release of their cd, along with steady local shows, The Provocative Whites gained a dedicated local following, including the beloved "Whiteheads." The P-Dubs (a nickname coined by their fans) being ambitious in nature, headed for the windy city of Chicago in the early spring of 2008 with a new set of songs showcasing their ever evolving sound. Pairing with legendary engineer Steve Albini, most commonly known for his work with such bands as Nirvana, Pixies, The Stooges and The Breeders, the raucous foursome proceeded to track and mix nine songs in three days time. Continuing with that momentum, The P-Dubs met with mastering engineer John Golden, world renowned for his work with such bands as Primus, Faith No More and Sonic Youth.

With an anxiously awaited new album, an always growing fan base, and a tenacious attitude, The Provocative Whites continue to write, tour, and record. What are they capable of? Tune in, turn up, the music speaks for itself.
