ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Mr. Richard Bailey, aka Proem, has been quiet for awhile,... but he's been busy. Very busy making Socially Inept, the most densely emotive Proem record to date. His second album on Merck, and fourth overall. Described by Richard as being sweeter than a vegan triple chocolate peanut butter mousse with an extra thick crust. You'll find many of his 'patented sweet' Proem melodies and arrangement. He has traded in most of his Burnplate crunch for some of the smoothest and most precise beats around. As well as his more varied structure and progression definitely display a maturity not seen previously.

Incredibly beautiful album
This is one of my all-time fave electronica albums. Every track is a winner. Beautiful melodies intertwine with expertly programmed beats that take the listener on an incredible journey. Totally excellent.

Some very good melodic IDM with added gltich/crunch.
As good as any of their releases, and Merck titles are all limited to 1000 or 2000.

Glad I took the journey!
This project had the ability to lead me (willingly) into unknown territory. I just put one foot in front of the other. Glad I took the journey!

Smooth yet quirky, and ever evolving
This is a great CD start to finish! I've been listening to it over and over for a week now. Even though all sounds are technologically driven there is real organic quality to the performance. Unlike a lot of electronic music these tracks evolve and go somewhere, not to mention the emotions they elicit. Excellent stuff!

Unique, fresh, thoughtful, pretty, unpredictable
This is my first electronica-oriented type of music. I'm impressed. Word of advice, if you like the sounds of this album, GET IT---but don't get Negativ(its weirder than all get out)Socially Inept is more ascessible(I think). My favorite tracks are 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,11,12,13 (pretty much everthing except for trach 8.

Rerate!
Since I bought this CD, I've been on a lot of airliners, and I must say it is AMAZING to look down on the clouds while listening to this music. Also, when I'm bored out of my mind and there's nothing to actually focus on while I'm waiting for something, this CD takes hold of my imagination. Wonderful.

CD Baby

From the first surreal track, these musical ideas find a way to penetrate the busy mind and speak in a language only the subconscious comprehends. With a sound that is primitive, ancient, familiar and visceral as well as futuristic and timeless, Proem's music is no longer processed as vibrations to the ear drum but rather, dancing colors and moody landscapes to the imagination, like a lazer show inside your head. This is the result of downtempo and experimental electronic reaching into the realms of art. Gorgeous, rich, insanely creative, sensuous and lush expanses that lead with the gut.

Certainly Different
It's always awesome to hear something that can be both trippy and solid at the same time. You can fall asleep with some of these songs, but there's plenty of punch, too.
