Not kidding when they says it's the "perfect blend"
It's hard to really categorize Production Unit Xero other than "badass chill intelligent electronica". It's IDM, but with a more ambient vibe, and stiff glitchy beats that are much deeper layered and grooved than what you usually hear. It's always flowing but with plenty of angles to keep it interesting - truly the perfect blend of ambient you can turn down while doing something else, but with so many levels of ideas to repay listening as intently as you want to. And it's much more consistent than something like Autechre, whose moments of brilliance sometimes slide into moments you want to fast forward through. With "Shades of Distortion" you can just put it on loop at home, in your car, whatever, and it's always solid. Very user-friendly.

There's a lot of stuff that sounds "like" it, but not much that's anywhere near as good.
