Album Notes
"Seattle isn't just a bunch of flannel. Hailing from the outskirts of the greatest music city in the country, is a hard melody beltin' band called Poorsport. With influences that run from early 70's punk to Orange County Hardcore, Poorsport plays the tunes that are guaranteed to get at least one of your toes tapping. These punk-a-teers have been taking the Seattle scene by storm with the release of their first full length album."

"Who on earth is Poorsport?"

Poorsport is a rock and roll band. Specifically, Poorsport is a "Suburban Punk Band" formed on the outskirts of Seattle in June 2002.

"Oh boy, another Seattle band. Are they Grunge?"

One fan describes them as "the unholy offspring of Weezer and NoFx, only not exactly." Which is just about as good as anything we could come up with. Let's just say that fans of Orange County Hard Core and early 70s punk will be easy converts, but the band's sonic diversity will appeal to a wider audience as well. So: "no, I wouldn't say that Poorsport bears a strong sonic resemblance to Grunge."

"Are they any good live?"

Good? Do you like fast-paced, highly energetic sets laced with loads of irreverent banter and self-deprecation, executed by talented musicians who don't let their technical acumen get in the way of writing and performing great catchy songs?

"Why should I spend my hard-earned cash on these guys?"

*Poorsport is one of only four bands chosen to play the Vans Warped Tour 2002 Side-Stage at The Gorge in George, WA. More than 75 artists from Washington and Oregon competed.
*Released Self-Titled 14-song CD in August 2002. Seeking recording contract with established record label.
*Organized and headlined Rain City Skate Park "Band Brigade 2002", Seattle, WA.
*Scheduled to play main stage of Apple Blossom 2003 Festival in Wenatchee, WA.

Witty, smart, and comical
When buying this cd I vaguely knew who Poorsport was. Now I’m trying to spread the word of this album all over Philadelphia. This cd is the best one I’ve gotten in a long time. The band's hilarious and sharp lyrics (especially on the track Sign This) would bring a smile anyone of any age group. Whether you like punk, ska, or metal, Poorsport has got that all covered on this album

We love the punk rock
This CD shows the versitility of the artists. They have a familiar sound although there is no true comparison. This CD is original and fun. It makes you wanna do the funky car dance as you fly down the freeway. The tunes are all catchy and maybe I'm a bit biased but these guys rock. The CD is only a smidge of how great these guys are. The energy in the CD is multiplied ten-fold when you see them live. Long live the punk rock!! :) WE LOVE POORSPORT!!!

Some of the best new music since early punk...
Brilliantly funny lyrics, with a wonderful sound underneath. This CD makes me happy and puts a smile on my face. Each member has brought their own unique style and sound to the songs. The cover of "Holiday Road" is beyond brilliant. The vocals are very controlled, yet with a punk edge. The drumming is enthusiastic and energetic. The guitar sound is off the hook and the bass sound is incendiary. Amazing musicians and incredible tunes. Well done.

Fun Punk Rock with a Groovy Edge
No need to skip a track while listening to the entire CD. Great variety with lots of "get up and rock out" tracks. I dig it!

freaking awesome, love every song, even the shorties
man, the music is so creative and ampy, what every punk needs to chill out.

Diverse, quality (punk) rock album
This is an awesome album you'll want to listen to over and over again. It's nice and diverse, unlike some other punk rock that can get bland and boring halfway through an album. I wouldn't even say this album is all punk, but it's definatley got that kind of energy throughout. My favorite song on this album is Lazy-B, but there are many goodies.

A little punk rock lovin'
This CD has fast become a favorite "...which is cool." It's upbeat, original and catchy. The variety of sound you get from these guys is great. This cd is perfect for everything from road trips and cleaning house. It's picks you up and takes you away. Don't pass this one up, it's a great addition to any punk collection, you won't be disappointed. We love Poorsport, they so nifty :)

new self -titled album is chalk......
Poorsports new self -titled album is chalk full of soft core high school ska, that makes me want to jump around my living room while cleaning up after a party the next morning. I suggest you skip the first song and use track 2 to start the album, I can't get into the first song "Stand Strong" at all, I'm just sick of the You can't tell me what to do song's it's been done one thousand times too many. So with that said The first track "Irons in the fire" dragged me in boppin' with my head phones on, very up beat and poppy, the rest of the album sticks true to a good soft core ska sound minus the brass, Poorsport caries an awesome beat only ska can produce. I don't know the exact age of the band members, but a lot of the song's reminded me of the way I felt when I was a teenager. I can't wait for this band to grow up; I really like their sound but the lyrics are defiantly geared towards the younger crowed. The crowning moment on this 14-track list is the theme song to National Lampoons Christmas Vacation "Holiday Road" this is a real gem.
I saw this band play when they where under a different name and they did a rad Scooby Doo cover, I wonder what other tricks these kids have for us in the future?

Poorsport is awesome whether live or recorded.
From Stand Strong till that un-named song at number 44 this album is full of energy, awesome, and just plain fun. My fave would have to be Irons in the Fire. This cd did not stop playing in my cd player for over a month, its that good.

poorsport's cd is well written, well played and well, fun. i give it a 4, why? because id have to click again for a 5. its good music, and good lyrics, i dont know why i was thinking of the (older) suicide machines but i did, and thats what made me like poorsport.
