Album Notes
After eight years of working, researching, and developing while touring; Jean-Patrice Remillard aka Pheek hatches a new album making it his sixth, appearing on his own imprint Archipel Musique. Already critically acclaimed, his two previous CD released on Epsilonlab were nominated at the prestigious ADISQ Awards. Since then, he managed to receive the attention and support (and friendship) of people like Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Magda, Josh Wink, Craig Richards, Sven Vath and Dan Bell to name a few.

What seemed to attract these techno references to Pheek’s music was his chirurgical sound design with an unadulterated aesthetic, forming paths to unanticipated destinations, where only he can predict the outcome. This is the brainchild of “En Légère Suspension.” Pheek reinterpreted his concept of electronic music by utilizing flavourful blends of techno embedded with funky undertones, minimal, IDM, and tech house. Specially blended rhythms enriched with bottomless emotion, entices the senses to explore the unknown, but in a playful manner. While his last albums gave him a name for ambient and delicate music, “En Légère Suspension” will take everyone by surprise demonstrating subtle techniques of dance floor music.

Since 2004, Pheek has been managing the labels Kalimari and Archipel Musique. This experience has helped him to develop an open ear for micro sounds as well as being sensible to what’s ahead in the minimal scene. It has also helped Pheek to develop a very personal sound, with the opportunity to release his material under his own label in a non-compromise environment. With no restrictions to manoeuvre around, Pheek was able to apply all his skill to build quirky grooves and unusual sounds coupled with complex structures and feel-good rhythms.

Long live the Pheek!
Not being a minimalist Techno fan, I first was kinda scared about what I was gonna hear, and Then, Wham! Bam! this heavy hitter slugs you right in the kisser! I thought sound was sound, but MAN, Pheek gives this simple word a whole lot of meaning. From the strong opening to the ethereal ending, this album will move you to corners of space and time you'd never have guessed existed.

So long live the Pheek!
