Album Notes
"OFF THE GRID" means living without utility electric service. This album was recorded using electricity generated from solar power. So what! It still sounds the same as if it came from oil or coal or nukes-- but it didn't-- it all came from the sun. If you hear a slight buzz on the lead track, it's just the pickups sensing the charge controllers regulating the charging of the batteries during bright sunny days in the Colorado mountains.

The songs are "Off The Grid" also-- they're from the heart and not real commercial, but this is indie country. The style is somewhere in the folk/rock/reggae/calypso/country (not Nashville) style. No real genre. Ok, so "Goin' To Houston" may be a little commercial but it's kind of a joke too. "Kalalau" is about escaping the craziness on a remote beach in Hawaii. "Homeland Security" is about the erosion of our civil rights. "Uva's Song" is about my mother-in-law (it's not what you think!). "Mr Woo" is about my little dog that kept barking at my feet when I played the strat too loud. "I Know" is just the blues, pure and simple.

There's a lot going on in this world right now. Some of this CD is about all that, some of it is just escapism, some for fun and some a little bit sad. Maybe next time I'll top forty, but for now I like it on the fringe just fine.

Off the Grid = Authentic, heart felt music
This CD is heart felt. The songs are subjective and personal. Music comes from past experiences, future dreams, remembrance of someone, or feelings that have been cultivated over a person, an idea, or an object. Bill Needell is sharing a bit of his life and views with us, showing us a new perspective of the world through his guitar solos and deep, melodic voice. A million praises towards this musician.

Your drummer Dude!
