ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Tails of the Cloven Hoof" is Arthur Mountaniol’s second release for 2008. In this album, he takes his imaginative songwriting to the realm of Celtic folklore, goblins, witches and other dream-like images of mystical journey, forbidden love, witchcraft and mild insanity.

His notorious throat singing appears here as well, but at a more sweet-sounding tone so it's almost enjoyable. Although, most vocal parts are sung in his natural vocal tone which is really sweet and gentle.

On tracks "Goblins Train" and "Cloven Hoof" he makes his guitar sound like Scottish pipes. On other tracks, it's just traditional, but with a lot of ingenious craft and a great taste.

Folk / Rock songs with a little touch of electronic drum sampling, have fine melodies and harmonies, yet with a few twists and pranks that make it all sound distinctive and recognizable as Arthur Mountaniol's music.

Weird Celtic Rock.
Tails of the Cloven Hoof is an album that will please many fans of Celtic and Folk Rock. A record made with an utter simplicity and beauty. It's very theatrical as well, making you see images from the Medieval and Pagan times.

Very good tunes filled with humor and weirdness in a good way.
Fine instrumentation and guitar work that pretty much remains in the rock tradition, yet once in a while explores a more innovative ways of tweaking new sounds like Scottish pipes in "Goblin's Train" and "Cloven Hoof".

The throat singing in the opening number "Goblins' Train" will grab your attention from a first few seconds. I guess most people would be very surprised even shocked by this vocal technique never heard from any other rock artist.

Just like on his other records, Arthur Mountaniol uses many other vocal styles that his voice is capable of to express his unique vision.

The production is really straight forward, but there's obviously a point here - it unmasks the two most important things - the song itself and the soul of the artist.

Discover this music and you'll enjoy it a lot just like I did.

Beautiful and tricky songs
As a big fan of Celtic rock ,I can really appreciate this stuff. But it is not really traditional. These songs are beautiful and strange at the same time. They are also kind of tricky with unexpected turns which I enjoyed.Throat singing sounds awesome. My favorite songs are Goblin\'s Train,Bewitched,Eastern Sky and Boogaloo.Wish they released it as a hard copy - now it\'s only available as digital downloads on iTunes.com and some other stores online.Amazing pieces of music.

Visionary,unique music
Loved it!Cool songs with depth and vision.Original and moderately experimental without abandoning emotional side.As you listen through,it takes you deeper and deeper into the strange, yet a kind of beautiful world of this artist.Ingenious songwriting and guitar work.Vocals are fantastic. However it is Arthur Mountaniol's unique vision that shapes everything the way you think you know it,but before you do,it's actually something different. It's a very interesting feel I rarely encounter with other artists.
