ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Singer/songwriter Monika Walls’ journey has taken her from opera (Indiana University) to contemporary folk/pop and jazz singer when a call in the night pulled her out of her sleep and into the world of songwriting. She’s never looked back, releasing her second solo album in November 2018 ‘Earth’ celebrates love within the circle of life seeing the spirit of the extraordinary within the ordinary and the legacy of life lived to the fullest.

‘Let it flow’ opens the album with its easy, carefree vibe. Gentle but powerful ‘Slings and Arrows’ is nearest to her heart as it reminds her to love those most near. The light hearted ‘Moments’ is a call to “seize the day”. The strongest jazz influence is heard in the soulful ‘One Step’.‘Season of Rain’ written in memory of one her dearest friends, is a celebration of a life lived to the fullest.'We Will Rise’ is a “take me to church” almost gospel like tune with a choral background that reflects the year Monika spent singing in an Afro- American Gospel choir. It is an uplifting call to global unification in care for the earth, giving a sense of hope in a world facing the result of its wounded planet.
Working alongside Juno award winning producer Murray Pulver (Doc Walker, Landreth Brothers) her second album shows depth in her songwriting with a defining voice.
