ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Eventide" is medieval English for evening. Working with the concept of the passage of night, songs and poems were chosen to take the listener from dusk to dawn. The music on this CD is divided into five sections, starting with "Evening Descends". End of the day sounds disappear, as Night tiptoes in and crickets add their song to the melodies of dusk. When the Star lighter lights up the evening skies, songs of the stars soothe us through "Starry Nights". Stepping inside, we tread softly "Into The Nursery", where the ticking clock and tender tunes lull sleepy heads off to dreamland. The Sandman and Dream Fairy are the "Dream Makers" taking us through lands with droning bees and fairy fish. Now gently cocooned, we stay in slumber "'Til Break of Day".

Monique Lefebvre is a professional singer, performer, vocal coach and teacher of music theatre and preschool music education. Her performing arts background is an eclectic mix of classical piano, folk guitar, flute, classical and pop vocal training, tap and modern dance and studying contemporary music and theory at college. She was a member of a multi-disciplinary dance company for five years and toured throughout Canada and Washington State. She currently teaches preschoolers in her own music school, and in two Montessori Preschools. She also teaches Music Theatre at "Pro Arte Performing Arts In Motion" Dance School. For the past seven years she has presented workshops to parents on the value of an early music education and she is a regular lecturer for the Early Childhood Education students on how to use music with children.

After the birth of her two daughters, Monique's focus shifted to their music education. She began searching for a program that would embrace the many dimensions of music. It was after that search, that she decided to create her own music program based on the Barbara Cass-Beggs philosophy. Each class includes movement, poetry, singing, music theory, ear training and the playing of percussion instruments. For quiet time, the lights are dimmed; the children get pillows and curl up, while Monique sings a lullaby related to the class theme. It is the singing of these lullabies to over a thousand children, which was the inspiration for this CD.

Monique dedicates this CD to her daughters, who also added their sweet voices to this album. It is because of them, that she began teaching her passion for music to young children. And to all the little faces on those pillows in her music classes, you and your parents were the inspiration for this project.

Enjoy this labour of love!

A wonderful collection of lullabies delivered with heartfelt emotion and an incredibly clear, strong, calming voice. Not just for children, this is perfect for anyone looking to add a calming(almost zen-inspired)musical backdrop. It calms the soul and brings a smile.
You can tell this is truely a labour of love and any one you love would love this!
