A collective of Psychedelic/punk/street musicians perform mostly on Main Street Saturday mornings in downtown Baton Rouge until they are asked by “authorities” to leave. Every once in a while they play at coffeehouses as “special guests” of the featured act. Equally at home performing on acoustic instruments as well as in the format of a full tilt rock n roll band, their set of originals and cover versions of songs by Iggy and the Stooges, Velvet Underground, and Syd Barrett (among others) is considered “not what people around here want to listen to” by those who book events for local clubs and festivals. The fact that they are old (average age – 60) and vastly unattractive people does not help their chances of getting gigs. Comprised of vocalist and guitarist M.F. Lunch who is joined on occasion various friends (including Zenobia Marsh (vocals) and Nightduck (percussion)), their act is considered by many to be incredibly entertaining, and others to be highly disturbing.
A loud electric version of this band is in rehearsal.
Much to the surprise of the Little Cotton Woolies, they have received airplay on KLSU, KFJC, WORT, KAOS, WFMU, among others, and sparkling reviews from Red Shtick Magazine, KFJC, and a few favorible mentions on the www.
