Album Notes
Max Power: The Band takes the classic grunge/alternative rock sound of bands like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden, then adds their own varied influences such as prog-rock, metal, funk-jam bands, etc. They are most recently compared to bands like Fuel or Audioslave.
Max Power: The Band has been together for about 3 years in the current lineup - Matt O'Gara (guitar/vocals), Nick Elliott (bass), Travis Sowden (vocals), and John Brower (drums). In their relatively short music career, they have toured across the midwest and California, won the Iowa State Fair Battle of the Bands in 2003 (based on audience vote at listening stations and their performance), and have had songs place on Top Ten lists in both Rock and Midwest catagories on and Their songs have been heard on several radio stations in Iowa, and they have even had songs placed on TV, including the Second Chance series on TLC.

Review of Modern Rock

Max Power is the volcano in the everchanging music ecosystem.
This CD is what the industry needs in this day of pop rock and bands who want to make a quick buck. This is a truly amazing album and shows that talent, other than Slipknot, can come from Iowa. There is a song for everyone on this album. From the in-your-face heavy metal of Invinvible to the hilarious Your Mom is Hot, this is truly a 3 Ring Circus. Personally, my favorite is Sober Again, dealing with the eventual comeuppance after a night of intoxication. The soft ballad Finale is one that you ladies are sure to enjoy, bringing back memories of that one special lost love. The bonus track was enough to make my mind yearn for the days of the Grateful Dead and and the Allman Brothers. This album shows that Max Power is the volcano in the everchanging music ecosystem, leveling what has come before, issuing in a new era of rock and roll.
