Album Notes
'le vent d'hiver' is the first opus of - and entirely created by - marylou (french sound designer, musician and also a kind of weirdo fascinated by european birdsongs and DIY instruments).

it's an incentive to carefully listen the artist's soundscape with some vulnerability as her compositions - with french poetry and melancholic folk melodies - are constantly dancing with her recordings of dutch and french nature's songs through the entire opus, though as an unique narrative sound piece to explore.

it's a story, modestly, something like a sensitive wandering, or an ambivalent reverie.

'soundscape orchestra' research:

marylou conducts a master design thesis on natural soundscapes, a project which takes place in europe. the birds of the camargue's natural park are the first chapter of this work. the full sales amount of the album 'le vent d'hiver' will fund the research and development of this pedagogical concept: promote an active listening of our environments in order to nurture ecological awareness.

'sound design can be used as a preventive tool, and can complement an ecological scientific approach: in the camargue, many bird species are declining because of climate changes or because of pesticides' uses in modern agriculture systems. sounds are immediate indicators of ecological consequences. they can be more sensitive, faster and precise in their own language: they reveal what can be hidden within visual materials while offering another reading of our territories. creating an evolutionary sound library of the fauna in order to follow its evolution year by year, and developping at the same time in museums a sound device encouraging an intelligible listening of the species' diversity can build a link between the environment's scientific observation and a general sensitizing experience for the region's public.'
