Album Notes
Producer DJ Marlin has been hatching quiet classics from his west coast studio for almost a decade. The Scratch DJ started to learn the possibilities of the studio in the late 90's in Vancouver, Canada. With 4 instrumental albums of boom bap beats and soulful melodies, along with the "Tree House Radio" mix series put out in Japan, Marlin has a body of head noding beats that are bigger than hip hop alone. Behind the scenes his music has set the mood in snowboard films, television and on the web. Marlin has lived in Los Angeles, Vancouver, and rain forest hide outs like Roberts Creek BC, where he lives today. Whether acoustic or synthed out, Marlin's indie hip hop sound shares a west coast smoothness and a hard hitting production value that cut and pastes his life into beats, like samples from a record.

Happy Face Math was inspired by the art of Michael Swaney, and the cd cover was painted by him. The original graphic art called Happy Face Math was made by Charlie Smith, Raleigh, NC at URL:

Great album
When I saw the snowboardfilm In Transit and heard Marlins featured tracks Pantera Negra and Salty Days, I immediately became a fan of his style. Rough beats, synth lines, samples and little acoustic pieces brilliantly put together. I searched for his album everywhere, and learned about CD Baby by a lucky chance. Now I finally have Happy Face Math in my stereo and it's one of the most original albums I've heard. Nice work
