Album Notes
This CD collection contains many old traditional Scottish and English folk ballads. Several are listed in the Child Ballads, and some can be found in the Herd's Collection of Ancient and Modern Scots Songs compiled in 1769.
Many of these songs are hundreds of years old, and are given a special treatment here by Mark Tietjen.
Mark is a graduate of the Crane School of Music located in Potsdam, NY, where he earned a degree in the Performing Arts. Mark began singing at the age of 2, and has never stopped. This CD is his entry into the recording field as a soloist. He performs all the vocals, and plays all of the instrumental backing as well. He has a melodic, soothing voice which earned him lead roles in many musical performances throughout his academic career.
Twa Corbies contains many traditional Scottish and English songs, many of which have been recorded by a several artists including Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, to name a few. We hope you enjoy Mark's rendition of these classic songs.
