Album Notes
If you like original compositions in the folk/rock tradition, check out The Maple Street Project.

We've been writing and playing progressive acoustic music for the better part of 18 years. Yet it is only recently that our songs have been available outside of a live performance environment.

We're thrilled to present our 2nd CD, the 2006 release called "Kick Back on Maple Street".

Our debut called "Attitude on the Street" (also available here on CD Baby) featured older material - in some cases unrecorded songs dating back more than twenty years. "Kick Back on Maple Street" is all new. Well, as new as can be for a process that took two plus years to complete!

"Beyond Imagined" was the first song we recorded for this collection and "Running Out of August" was penned just after tracks for the first CD were completed. The rest evolved over the following 24 months, with "Spin Doctor" the newest. In fact, that was the last song completed back in July 2006.

Our music is still very much a mixture of myriad influences each member brings to the stage and recording studio. The principle voices remain Mel Green (Guitar/Harmonica/Vocals), George Pultz (Guitar/Vocals), Bob Littman (Mandolin/Violin/Vocals) and Eric Luskin (Bass/Vocals). Jim Mavor rounds out the group with percussion and stoic non-vocals (occasional accordion).

Kick Back on Maple Street – The Maple Street Project...

On this their Second CD the guys from Maple Street have really turned the corner. They are now traveling down Musical Main Street. Kick Back brings us excellent New Material!
There are no bad cuts on this CD. Some are better then others but none make you push the FF Button.
Hear original Melodies and Lyrics wrapped tightly in Intricate Harmonies. The string work is complex, tuneful, and soothing.
“Desperate Hands” builds momentum until it touches us all. You will have “Spin Doctor” stuck in your head for days. “Beyond Imagined” will tickle your fancy and send your imagination dancing.
“Murphy” pushes the envelope of story telling through Alt/Folk in 2007.
“Hail to the Chief” is the epitome of a modern folk song. Phil Ochs would be proud of MSP on this one. Do not miss the CSN like Harmonies.
“Limbo” covers us with great Harmony...
The simple yet effective progression of “Thinking about Your Eyes “ linked with the Crisp Lyrics, Delicate String Work and Soft Harmonies make this song truly Haunting. If you close your eyes, you can see the women that Mel is singing about.
Kick Back will bring any music lover endless hours of listening pleasure.
