Album Notes
Low Pressure Sound System experience explores the creation of live soundtracks to breathtaking oceanic footage. Depending on the performance they will create ambience and spaciousness or driving, pulsing rhythms with rolling bass lines and evocative washes of sound and colour. With their heavy roots, soul, reggae, psychedelic rock, folk and experimental electronic influences, their sound shines through as an original and intriguing mash up of all these elements.

Lead by Sol Carroll & Oj Newcomb which features world renouned free surfer Dave Rastovich is a collective of Surfing Musicians who record soundtracks & perform live to with the soul purpose of performing music in its pure form. Totally improvised, nothing writen down, nothing rehearsed.

The band communicate through subtle signals and expressions and just feel their way through extended improvisations within their music. Their songs are composed to allow for free flowing or can be brought back to concise arrangements depending on the gig.

Low Pressure Sound System also recently toured the East Coast of Australia with an audio visual show for the launch of Dave Rastovich's movie, 'Life Like Liquid'. Oj & Sol from BoF & Afro Dizzi Act produced the soundtrack to the movie which features members from well known Australian bands such as King Tide, Ash Grunwald, Afro Dizzi Act, Oka and The Winnie Coopers. On the tour they experimented with playing live soundtracks to footage by legendary surf cinematographers George Greenough, Albe Falzon, Jack McCoy and Dick Hoole. The experiments have opened up a whole new spectrum of possibilities for audiovisual interaction in their shows. Check out the short for the film on the Life Like Liquid page of this site.

Members of the band have been focusing on surf movies and soundtrack projects, they have since been creating innovative and different sounds that have been featured in several films including Life Like Liquid (Dave Rastovich), Believe (Mick Waters) and yet to be released Under the Sun (Cyrus Sutton).

The soundtrack to Under the Sun, a surf film by Californian film maker Cyrus Sutton, which will be out by the end of the year will be a combined effort with UK producer Shawn Lee's and will be out through Ubiquity records in 2008.

Low Pressure Productions & the Band Of Frequencies returned from a tour of California in May '06.

They have been invited to play an ambient show at Splendour in the Grass festival (Australia) this year and will be joined by special guests to craft an audio visual piece especially for winding down the event on the Saturday night.

They've also presented this concept at Woodford Folk Festival with a 12 piece band, most of whom were involved in the making of Life Like Liquid, a movie by Dave Rastovich.

Life Like Liquid (Low Pressure Sound System) & Ash Grunwald Tour of Japan
Surf & Sound Tour 2007

Starting on the 17th of October through to the 24th of October 2007 Low Pressure Sound System & Ash Grunwald embarked on a tour of Japan to promote the Movie & Soundtrack 'Life Like Liquid' as well as Ash Grunwalds new CD 'Give Signs' through the Japanese Record Label Surf Rock International, performing in Surf cities such as Fukushima, Chiba, Shona as well as larger cityies like Tokyo.

This year the movie Life Like Liquid was played on big screen to up to 60,000 people at the Fuji Rock festival & has been recieving great reviews from press throughout Japan.

"Prepare to have your musical thirst quenched. Byron Bay's Loe Pressure Sound System - featuring style master Dave Rastovich, seated in indian style and bare foot, providing melodic percussion - dabbles in the whole pallet of musical genres; Bluesy rock drips away into skull-melting lullabies that pitter-patter like rain into jazz-fusion hippy grooves that inevitably wander off somewhere else altogether." -Travis Ferre

Life Like Liquid - Great CD
This is a great CD because of all the different styles of music it incorporates. Traditional reggae, psychadelic (ala Pink Floyd) and blues are all blended throughout this album. Its a really great record for driving or relaxing.

Also, CD baby was a great company to purchase from.

Good Suff!
I discovered this CD last year, searched for it, found it, didn't buy it then. A year later, rediscovered it and bought it. I knew I would love this cd even from just hearing the one song that I'd heard a year ago! I absolutely love it! It even relaxed a tired baby! Great stuff, please do it again!
