Album Notes
Loren Claypool composes, improvises, creates, and records "genre-indifferent instrumental guitar music" with acoustic, electric, baritone electric, fretless electric, lap steel, baritone lap steel, touch, and synthesizer guitars.

His album "One Feather Shy" crosses musical boundaries with little regard for convention. Sometimes delicate, sometimes aggressive, the music is textural, visual, thoughtful, and emotional. Moving from spaghetti western to ambient, from progressive to melodic, from sparse arrangements to densely orchestrated compositions, each song is fascinating on its own, but clearly an integral part of the larger work.

"One Feather Shy" is as diverse tonally as it is musically. Loren is fascinated with the sounds that can be made with the instruments he plays. He is just as likely to ferociously manipulate a guitar's sound as he is to preserve the traditional tone of the instrument. The result is a unique sonic approach to instrumental guitar music. And, on this recording, it's all guitar.

Guitar Circle of Chicago is featured on one of the songs on "One Feather Shy". He is also a contributing cohort to Lee Fletcher's [halo] "Covers Venture" project. Loren co-scored and recorded the soundtrack for the award-winning independent film "Lost Love".

Good on many levels
This is a tremendous CD. You can listen to the music on many levels. You can simply enjoy the music and the emotion that each song evokes. You can also enjoy the music from a technical stand point. The guitar work on this album is amazing. Nice work.

Loren has out done himself here. One Feather Shy is in exploration into the the psyche. This is an emotional trip to healing. If you like the expression of Jeff Beck and have a leaning towards the eclectic this is for you. Fret-less guitars and lap steel transform this disc into a journey towards the ethereal. Loren has put his heart on a platter for all to see. Take advantage of this, it\'s great!

Lovely spacious instrumentals, like ice sculptures. If you like David Sylvian\'s instrumentals on Gone to Earth you\'ll like these.

Your Collection is not complete without this!
What a refreshing work of art. Almost mystical at times listening to Loren\'s music evoked a range of emotions from somber to joy to reflective. Wildly creative and innovative this is one you don\'t want to miss out on.
