ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Compared by listeners to the likes of Neil Finn, James Taylor, Paul Simon and Ron Sexsmith, LIAM MCFADDEN writes about the issues arising from modern existence, the serious and the amusing, framing his songs in a style designed to soothe and relax - the perfect antidote for your panic attack!

Based in the North East of England, he is a truly independent songwriter and performer who has fully engaged with the Internet to carve out a public niche for his literate, melodic songs.

In 2007, Liam independently released his "Rivers And Bridges" album through CD Baby, garnering plaudits on his MySpace page from many new listeners, including Benny Gallagher (Gallagher & Lyle) who singled out "Gliders" for special mention.

Now comes "Lights In The Distance", featuring the track, "Can't Change The World", which has been playlisted on UK & US radio alongside the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, James Blunt and Joan Baez.

Wow!
This CD is absolutely gorgeous!

The soul-soothing sound of Liam McFadden’s voice will mesmerize you, and the gentle, gracefully crafted music will pull you into a soundscape of quiet beauty.

“Can’t Change The World” is the perfect example of how this artist can fuse thought-provoking ideas to intoxicating melody and rhythm, and the effect is repeated on many other tracks (The Curse Of Superman, Lights In The Distance…).

But check out “I Can’t Be Wrong Every Time” and “The First One To Tell You” for a toe-tapping change of pace! As for “Walk Into Light”, it’s an anthem just waiting to be adopted, simple but powerful, which showcases McFadden’s gift for harmony.

The melodic content throughout this album is striking and consistent and it’s like these songs always existed. There are moments when McFadden evokes the likes of Neil Finn, Paul Simon and Peter Gabriel, yet his sound and style is distinctly his own.

“Lights In The Distance” is indeed the perfect cure for a panic attack!

There's never a less-than-wonderful song
I've had "Lights in the Darkness" for a long, long while, and listened to it more than a few times. Once again, Liam McFadden has wrought magic with his music. Tension eases away and a feeling of well-being suffuses my soul. Listening to this CD, indeed any of Mr McFadden's music, is a treat. If you haven't already enjoyed this second of his CDs, now is the time to do yourself a favour.
