ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Leni Stern is perpetual motion. When she's not wearing one of her many professional hats (singer, guitarist, label owner, author, composer, orchestrator), she is wearing one or more of the other many hats that make her who she is: social advocate, martial artist and proud New Yorker.
Her stellar 17 year, 13 album career speaks for itself. Her music is energetic and powerful with a wide range from inspirational and rocking music to deep and intimate poetry.

The jazz background
This a great "samples of" album, not so much because of its content - although that's excellent) but more because of the background and understanding it gives me about her roots. There's some later compositions here (I love "Wondering Why", some mid-term stuff ("Ten songs") but I found myself somewhat surprisingly re-listening to the early numbers ("Someday my prints will come" - sorry that's what my Dad used to call it in reference to photo processors). As the sleeve notes say - here's a chance to join the dots of her career, from jazz guitarist to sublime and wonderful composer. Excellent!
