Neophobia

by Layer 4

Post-Grunge/Alt. Rock music fueled by influences of the 90's. Most lyrics have a bitter/darker overtone to them. The overall music is upbeat with a bit of rawness to it.

Layer 4 originated in the small town of Arlington, Minnesota. It formed after a number of jam sessions involving members of the bands Soundless Echoes and Fill In The Blank in late 2007. Original members included Mitch Hardel on Guitar, Richard Brit Keithahn on Bass/Vocals, Benjamin Wieman on Lead Vocals, and Matt Roepke on Drums/Vocals. Later that year, Wieman became the group's primary bassist in order to keep the group going while Keithahn was away at college.
They parted ways with Roepke and at time guitarist/backing vocalist Keithahn in April of 2010. Upon doing so they officially recruited their fill-in drummer, Tony Woehler, to a more permanent position.
Woehler left the group in January of 2011 for personal reasons. Wieman and Hardel finished recording the rest of the EP, Neophobia, with Wieman finishing the remaining drum tracks. The group finished out their remaining shows with John Christianson on drums and released Neophobia on February 18th 2011 at The Tank in Mankato, MN.
In May of 2011, Wieman and Hardel announced that Sean Carnicom would be Layer 4's new drummer. They are currently working on new material and obtaining shows in the process.

Not bad for their first EP
I've been following these guys for a while. Glad they finally got their EP done and I like what I hear. Wasn't sure if it was ever going to get done after the drummer left. Too bad, I thought they worked well together.
