by Kat Mills

Soulful, folky follow-up to the acclaimed debut, "Long Time". Features an all-star lineup of guest musicians--Scott Petito, Jerry Marotta, Marc Shulman and Larry Campbell--but stays true to Kat's vision. Poignant, political, personal.

Album Notes
Heading back into the studio with Scott Petito for her second solo album, Kat knew she wanted to up the ante. A powerful and topical bunch of songs commenting on love, politics, and religion meant building layers that would support the weight.

The backbone here is supplied by none other than Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, The Indigo Girls, Hall and Oates...) and Petito (The Band, Mercury Rev, The Fugs). Decorative details and moods are woven through electric guitar by Marc Shulman (Suzanne Vega, Chris Botti) and a cameo by multi-instrumentalist Larry Campbell (Bob Dylan, Phil Lesh, Levon Helm) ices the cake.

If you are used to the bare beauty of Kat's solo show, you'll want to add this rich, lush studio sound to your collection. It's Kat Mills, but crafted in a whole new way.

Kat Mills Two

A sophisticated and killer follow-up to Longtime
Enhanced production is self-evident here. Melancholy at times with a folksie-bluegrass edge... and a surprisingly spiritual number at the close (almost a good Christmas song, if that's okay to say)? Kudos to that rythm guitar!

Ben Morse

Incredibly catchy and never less than lyrically brilliant
Kat Mills has a rare gift for composing classic and infectious tunes with thoughtful lyrics that are never awkward or forced. Each track flows with natural beauty, and where her vision is critical it does not wallow in cynicism but instead offers hope. This is bluegrass at its best and is accessible to all ears!
